I don't know what any of you guys think, but I thought the atmosphere at the game today was louder than I've ever heard it. But then again, I haven't been to many games..
Thoughts?
I had the amazing pleasure of experiencing that atmosphere in person and I have to say I agree with your statement about the game. I've been to one other Notre Dame game in my life and today's game was by far a different feel. Just walking around seeing all of the Utah fans, all the red. Seeing sections 114-119 full of red. I actually had a Ute fan shake my hand as I was walking toward the Stadium and say, "Good Luck." Notre Dame was NOT supposed to win this game. Which makes being there and experiencing it that much better.
What I keep thinking about is how this game could have marked the turning point for this program. It's all the guys were talking about on Sunny 101. Watching the intensity of our D. 3 drives stuffed on 4th downs, 2 of them inside the redzone. Allowing a field goal on Utah's first drive and then nothing for the next 54 minutes. A freshman quarterback, Tommy Rees, in his first start running the offense confident, throwing 3 td's and no int's. All around, it was a different team. No, they aren't where they need to be but they are getting there.
What a way for the seniors to go out with a bang in their final game at the Stadium. Congratulations Notre Dame for such a big win. The team, coaches, and fans were in desperate need of a win, but a win of this magnitude makes it all the better.
