found a good article from blueandgold.com that talks about position battles in the spring. interesting enough the writers predict Trevor Robinson to take over the left tackle spot, defensive tackle to go to hafis williams or brandon newman, and darrin walls to be back as a starter along with blanton. link below.

i don't know if this guy is giving his personal opinion or what, considering spring practice hasn't even started. its seems unlikely the two RS freshman DTs could both jump over Junior-to-be Ian W.

It appears that he's inferring that one of them would work along side of Ian, not jump ahead of him ... "a wide body could make a move at a starting defensive tackle role this season alongside Ian Williams, who figures to be a lock at nose tackle". The wide body is where the 2 "new comers" come into play. Appears to depend on whether they go w/ a 3-4 or a 4-3 scheme.

So here's a question. Why has other college spring practices started but not Notre Dame????? Dont you think we should get all the practice we can get since we have been pitiful the last 2 years??? Just a thought. Michigan has already started theirs a week ago. Just sayin.

What does it matter when we start, everyone gets the same amount of practice time. We just happen to start later.

NDOM,
Come on, you have been around here long enough to know that was not a very smart question. EVERY D-1 team is allotted thte same number of practices for spring ball. It is even controlled down to the number of hours on the field, days in pads and more. Some schools have begun, but they will also finish before we do. Most of the southern schools have been practicing for a week or so. We start later than most because of Mother Nature. South Bend in early March can be mighty cold and snow at times. We will end up with the same number of practices as UM and every other school when it is said and done. Besides, do you really want to go to a spring game in March when it could look like the Syracuse game. I for one like the possibility of being in shorts and enjoying some sun. Go IRISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NDOM, no need to worry. We all have less than good posts every now and then. And, for the record, short term memory loss as a result of marijuana use is a myth. Alcohol use has a much more serious affect on...wait, what were we talking about?

Butterfly!

It is still too soon.

I did not know Tenuta had been named head defensive coordinator, and Brown is now associate head coach and co-defensive coordinator. Sounds like either a politically correct demotion, or he is that good a coach being groomed for a top job.

i actually believe brown is something amazing as a coach. seems to really get what he wants out of the secondary players, and out of all the coaches, he seems to show the most passion on the sidelines. not to mention when he came here the class we brought in on the defensive side was the best Defensive class we have had in many many years.

IA, as usual, I agree with you. I think he has done more (even with a young defense) than anyone since Barry Alvarez. His years as DC are the first years since Barry that I don't cuss loud enough to scare the neighbors.

I think Brown has a great career ahead of him. I hope he stays at ND for a good long time.

Brown was a welcome asset. Our defense is more aggressive and we can actually stop a couple of offenses. Now, the only thing we need is a tackling coach. Our players tackle like they're lubed up with pig fat.

Brown really doesn't care imo about play calling and would prefer to be on the field with the troops. I think what this means is we will stick Tenuta in the booth so he can watch offenses from overhead and Brown will be on the sidelines to make sure the fire is in the boys chests'. I think it is a great move. Charlie would never want Brown to go anywhere, but the simple fact is we brought in Tenuta so why not use him for his strength? Defensive Play Calling..........

I think next season will be a good indication of how well the Brown - Tenuta connection really works. I think ND Defense gonna knock some heads.

I am currently resisting the urge for carmeled corn (with peanuts and gift inside]).

When is fucking lent fucking over!?!?
