whole article: Sorry Charlie - College Football - Yahoo! Canada Sports

Sorry Charlie
By Dan Wetzel, Yahoo! Sports
4 hours, 6 minutes ago

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Each small step brought a grimace of pain – too many blown chances not helping the two blown ligaments in his knee. Charlie Weis had his arm around his son, a limp in his step and defeated eyes staring straight ahead – casting what for many would be a sympathetic image.

In the stands around the Spartan Stadium tunnel, many had a different take. Over the din of the Michigan State band serenading a 23-7 victory, fans screamed venom at Weis. They had let the Irish players go through mostly unmolested, but not the coach. No way for the coach.

And so they shouted at him. One guy flipped him off. Another hung over the rail and rained insults down on him.

Slow and hobbled, one tiny, tormented step at a time, Weis finally made it into the tunnel. He never once looked up to acknowledge the scene above.

Beating Notre Dame might not mean as much as it once did – Michigan State’s done it nine times in 12 meetings, its student section wasn’t full and the postgame celebration was fairly tame.

Beating Charlie Weis, however, well now that remains just as much fun.

Great read, and true.

That article (first one) is spot on. Sorry Weis lovers, the truth hurts sometimes.

I guess we can all read the same words and form our own opinions. This article, to me, is a tearjerker. Total tearjerker. And I can count my lifetime tears on one finger.

The article came from Lansing Michigan, and my interpretation is that the writer, from enemy territory, is defending Weis and enforcing the writer's will for Notre Dame to win again.

I had to go outside and smoke a cigarette after reading this.

Glad I overslept and missed most of the game. I expected them to lose.

ND will be a force soon enough.

I know, I'm just playing around. I like Quinn, but to have him in your avatar is a tad bit extreme, its not like he won anything with us.

I'm not understanding where you are coming from? Why is it extreme to have any ND player in your avatar? I know I urge patience for ND. That being said, I have no real problem with people who are urging otherwise. It's all discussion. But this kind of comment is uncalled for. Quinn actually won plenty for ND. Not to mention that he is a class act and represents the school well. Winning football games, while seemingly important, is not the be all and end all.

Time for Weis to go. Hes not a head coach. Hes not a college coach. Hes not any type of coach. Hes a offensive cordinator who got the hell out of NE because he knew what they were doing and didnt want to get caught up in it. Hes had almost 4 years to turn this program around and its not getting better.

Bring in Skip or Gruden!

He didn't win when it mattered.

It could be just me, but I think bringing up a former player to rehash pictures which are largely trivial if you were know the context from which they were taken seems a bit arbitrary and unnecessary.

You're kidding right?

You're kidding right?

So he doesn't represent the school well because he dressed up for a wedding ( I think thaht's what that was) and took some goofy pictures with his friends? Wow, the scandal. What a total scumbag. And again, he won plenty and winning NC's is not the be all and end all.

Sorry if I think you are pretty petty and ridiculous.
