Something that worries me about the Austin-Benn Interview

Did anyone else see how when Benn mentioned he plans a trip to USC, Austin raised his fist in the air?

What was that all about? Honestly, the guy doesn't seem that interested in ND.

I came off impressed with both of them, though, they seem like good guys, Benn especially; he had an interesting thing to say about the DC athletes that have often been above the level of competition but chose the wrong path that led them in a different direction.

From what Benn says, he really likes ND and they are in good standing with him.

Austin said Weis talks to him frequently. I saw the interview. Following my "Gary Gray" Rule, I'll take the fist pumping with a grain of salt.

Personally, if anyone ends up going to SC they didn't belong at Notre Dame at all in the first place.

No offense jiggs, I usually agree with everything you say, but not this time. Just because a kid goes to USC doesn't mean that he didn't belong at ND. Now if a kid goes to Miami or FSU maybe he didn't belong at ND. By saying that I just feel like its a copout. Well he chose the most dominant football team in the last five years over ND so he isn't a good kid. I would have loved to have Reggie Bush or Leinart, or any of the other stars on USC. Yes there probably are a few that couldn't make it into ND (grades, character), but I don't lump USC in with the other shady universities. If that is the kids choice he probably feels that is the best opportunity for me. I don't think any of us are the snoody ND fans that think every other school is inferior to us.

Indy, don't misunderstand me here. SC has the guys like Leinart and Bush, then they have the LenDale Whites and Dominque Byrd types. ND was even after Steve Smith, too. I simply think there are plenty of guys who go there for all the wrong reasons. A vast majority of their NFL prospects for this month's draft are scaring off NFL scouts because of character issues. That says a lot to me about some of the people who are there.

I don't like USC and I don't like their culture there. It was evident in the way quite a few players carried themselves on the field in the Rose Bowl against Texas. I can respect Michigan even though as a rival I can't stand them, but not USC. There really isn't anything about them I like. I'm sure there are good people there, but character doesn't seem to be a requirement. If an SC kid has it, that's considered a plus.

I'm just having one of those days.

Oh beleive me I feel the same way. USC is a whole different world. I hate them as well.
If I was in college and couldn't go to ND and had a chance to go there, I would. (Just think of the amount of CHICKS you would get man, not Indiana chicks either, Cali chicks, big difference). just kidding

Just watched the interview where Benn interviewed Austin.

Benn asked what schools Austin wants to visit and Austin responded by mentioned USC and saying that "hopefully we can make that one together."

He mentions great coaches like "Pete Carroll, Joe Paterno and Bobby Bowden."

Ouch, ouch, ouch. Marvin Austin, we hardly knew ye.
