I live in the Houston area, and it just came to me that there is a distinct possibility that the ND game will be pre-empted by more Ike coverage. Although I am compassionate for those in the eye of the storm, I also think it is important for the local NBC affiliate to provide alternative programming options for viewers in order to see this game. I am hopeful that they will provide either an alternate channel or non-HD channel for the game, but the fact that you can only get recorded messages and leave messages for the Programming department, I am filled with doubt that this game will be easy to access.

Has anyone in the area heard of what will be done? My next step is to contact DISH to see if I can get an outside NBC affiliate programmed last second....

HELP!!!!!!!

The only suggestion I can make is to try to see if you can watch it on ESPN360 on the internet.

We had TS Hanna roll through here last week, and the game kept getting interrupted by the local affiliate for weather alerts. What pissed me off was that the storm had passed through 6 hours earlier! The game would be shrunk down to about a 3" square and the weather guy would state that the storm was in Delaware but we had to be on the lookout for tornadoes. What the hell kind of crazy nonsense is that?!? I kept yelling at the weather guy to get the hell off the air and get back to the game. My wife thought I'd gone over the edge. The weather guy kept talking about how great their "Super-Duper Doppler Radar" system was and I nearly threw a rock at the TV. This happened about 3 times during the game; all during crucial moments. These alerts lasted for about 10 minutes each time.

I just thought I'd let you know what you might be in for.

Good luck on finding an alternative.

Warped Priorities

I can't believe ANYONE could think that a hurricane that destroyed half of Texas is more important than the ND - Michigan game!

BTW, I lived in the Cultural Chernobyl of Dallas for 3 years. I couldn't believe the level of bile the natives had against ND.

Um, SteveM, it wiped out Galveston Island. The rest of the state is just suffering from inept power companies that had a poor plan in place. Just got my electric back in place after 80 hours without.

Warped priorities? How about hungry for an escape from reality, which as you say, 'wiped out half the state of Texas.'

I hope that post was dripping with sarcasm.

I spoke to God today and God told me that God was just testing ND fans. I gave blood from 2000 miles away just to make sure I was forgiven for thinking that a hurricane that destroyed half of Texas is more important the the ND - Bichigan game.

My way of making sure that I did not lose a home to a hurricane is to not live in an area where hurricanes destroy homes from time to time. My way of making sure that I don't run out of water is to not live in a barren desert. But what do I know?

But seriously folks, TAKE MY WIFE. PLEASE.
I saw videos of the devastation, and my heart reaches out to those affected.

Understood. Thanks for clarifying. I am sensitive. We personally have power back, so I am hopeful I will get to watch MSU Saturday. Our prayers are with Galveston and those areas still without power...
