CW in the box next season.
CW in the box next season.
The play calling, for a change, was much better on the part of Charlie. He was quoted after the game as saying that it is much easier to call the offensive plays from the box... and that is the truth.
So do you believe that he would buck the traditional role of the Head Coach on the field if it wins games for ND? I see him in the box with more good play calling.
Here's why:
'Dour' and anxious Charlie, got out of the way! and everybody else had fun.
Charlie will figure this out and stay out of the way next year and let these kids be.
Maybe Haywood was also a symbolic offensive leader on the field, just like Davies when he took over that first game (leading to that ill-fated contract.)
So the key to next season could be the new offensive coordinator (with his assistant offensive line coach) who should be allowed to shine.
Charlie needs to choose an opposite of himself and learn how to handle a conductor's wand

Question really is: Is the offense doing much better because CW is in the box or Mike Haywood is on the field?? Ever since CW took over the offense this season it looked anemic. Now for the bowl Haywood is back on the field and the offense puts up 49?? Coincidence I think not.
