Similarities to 2002 Season

I know a lot of you like to compare this team to the 1993 or 1988 teams but right now they remind me most of the 2002 team in Willingham's first year.

1. Both were carried by their defenses

2. Both upset Michigan teams early in the season

3. Both had a black, athletic QB as their starter but were forced to use a limited, slow backup in spots (Dillingham against Mich State)

4. Both had converted soccer players in their secondary (Walton in '02; Farley in '12)

To me, the Florida State game at Fla State in 2002 is the same measuring stick as the Oklahoma game at Oklahoma is this weekend. As you all recall, we were amazing in the Fla State game but then went downhill after that.

Florida State wasn't the measuring stick in 2002, USC was.

I think this team is physically better prepared coming in november.

Michigan was not favored in 2012 as opposed to 2002. We were favored by 7.

Hey, Im trying my hardest to reverse jinx things. I truly believe in my sick screwed up head that my post right there helped save our season. I truly believe that if i hadn't written that post and conceded defeat that we lose this game. I apologize to all of you for having to take part in my antics but i did it for the good of the team and i needed to light a fire in them.

I love you all and this today was the most satisfying win I have ever seen out of a Notre Dame team. Now please, let's bury BC next week...my heart cant take it

I now will finally concede that this is not the 2002 ND team. They are far better, far tougher, and far more resilient.
