He also announced that James Aldridge is doubtful with a high ankle sprain. Let's give em a full dose of Robert Hughes and Armando Allen god dammit.
I think they give us the best chance at the win. Finish the first part of the season 2-6, then bye week, get healthy, Clausen wins the final 4, then a bowl. We go into next season ready to go with Jimmy running the show.
Do you think that if Evan beats SC this week that we would REALLY turn the ball back over to Jimmy for the 'cupcake' part of the schedule? No way. If Evan did not get the ball after the UCLA victory, I have no reason to believe there would be a double standard.
We win, Evan finishes the year. Then hold your collective breath, cuz Jimmy might be done in South Bend.
I'd love that. But can you really advocate that, if they are averaging 1.x ypc, at halftime?

I dont buy it, the first guy to congradulate everybody on the field for the first TD of the BC game was... Jimmy Clausen. The kid has class, he has confidence, he knows his time will come and when it does... watch out.
The plays that Evan made during the game were the plays that was purely instinctive (like that pass to John Carlson for a first down). Evan understands pressure, understands being wrapped up but also still trying to make a play. He reminds me a lot of Garcia, how until Garcia is on the ground he always has his eyes open looking for the closest target. These are the things Jimmy will learn, espcially as he bulks up and is able to stand in the pocket even with guys wrapped all over him.
Things will look good, and I honestly think we stand a chance of a GOOD start for once in a game with Evan behind the wheel. I'm looking forward to USC, and of course, defeating them.
Agreed...Jimmy has appeared to carry himself with a level head and a great deal of class since he stepped foot on campus. Ultimately, I think the best thing for him and his future at ND is not to let him throw a pass the rest of the season. Get whatever is wrong with that throwing arm taken care of, and focus on kicking ass next season and creating a CLEAR separation from Sharpley in the spring game and fall practice.
Still, I just think it is hard to take the starting job away from a guy that leads you to 5 victories to end a season (utilizing best case scenario here to make a point). What if that happens, and we happen to win the Poulin Weedeater Bowl vs. Sisters of the Sacred Heart? At that point is it fair to take the job away from Evan, based on who practices better?
I'm fired up for this weekend. But I think that this is a game that may define the future of Notre Dame Football (at least at the QB position)...regardless of the rivalry with SC.
Clausen will be in before half time, look like the savior when he leads us back from 17-0 deficit, and forever the story of the next Great ND QB will be written.
I hope you guys aren't relying on Evan to restore the glory, because he isn't the anwser.
I'm not looking for glory this year. I just want competativeness... is that a word? oh well.
Yes it is, but it has two 'i's and no 'a'.![]()

Regardless, is anyone else tired of hearing "He gives us the best chance to win this game" from Chaa-lee? He said that about Jones in the GT game, Clausen therafter, and now The Sharpenator.
