I'm not on this board right now to be a realist. I'm putting all of that aside right now. Let's go out there and kick USC's butt. Play no huddle and start slinging that ball around all game long. It's time for a kickoff return/punt return for a TD and for some key turnovers on defense. I'm putting my energy behind this. I can live with being let down. What I can't live with is not getting behind my team. I'm with you. Let's go and beat USC.

I applaud your optimistic approach; however, there comes a time where being a realist is better in the long run than over arching enthusiasm. If you aren't on the board to be a realist, then why are you on the board?

You're missing the point of this thread. This is a thread to get behind the team for the USC game. It has nothing to do with CW or the future of ND football. By being a realist I meant that we are overmatched in this game. I am forgetting that and putting it all behind ND.

I disagree, I think that if you arre a fan you can never be enthusiastic enough

That's fine, but you are wasting a lot of energy. I am not going to put "everything" behind a team that refuses to leave "nothing" on the field. YOU CAN TAKE THAT ONE TO THE BANK MY MAN!

Cool. Then I'll be wasting my energy. Hopefully there are a lot of other ND fans out there willing to waste a bit of energy too. Go Irish. There are plenty of guys on this team that leave it on the field. Take that to the bank.

Who? Mike Anello? Great story, but that kid only got to where he is today because of hard work. Great kid, good special teams player, but he lacks any semblance of significant talent.

If you watch all the games, you can count on one hand the number of guys that actually play with intensity. Please tell me who leaves it all out on the field, because it is a finite number of guys.

Keep that Kool Aid flowin'!

Exactly. I understand being optimistic, but at the end of the day, "YOU ARE WHAT YOUR RECORD SAYS YOU ARE!" hahahahahahahahahaha

I love Notre Dame, but losing to Syracuse in football just doesn't roll off the tongue.

This is kind of interesting. The point of this thread has nothing to do with the state of ND football, Weis, the Syracuse game or anything else. We have been posting ad naseum about that for 2 plus days. The point was to say, "Hey, we still have a game versus USC to play and let's put aside all of what is going on and root hard for the team." It's an admittedly Pollyanna post. But you can't even do that without people commenting on how the team stinks etc. Yeah, I get all the problems the program has. But again, for this week I'm not going to sweat those problems. I'm going to root for ND to win versus USC. I'm not going to sit and sulk for a week about the state of the program. I can worry about that garbage after the season. I would like nothing better than ND to spoil USC's party.

I also need to stick up for the players a bit. Lack of results does not equal lack of caring or effort. We all want results, but sometimes they don't happen. But you can't tell me that a good percentage of this team is mailing it in. You think Kuntz is mailing it in? Tate? Did you see Brandon Walker after that missed kick? You think he doesn't care?

Ok, I get the point of your post. However, it is asinine to put known problems on the back burner in hopes they go away. The world doesn't work like that and it never will. I bet Weis wishes you were the AD or a member of the Board of Trustees. As far as the players are concerned, I'd sure as hell hope Brandon Walker doesn't mail it in, he kicks field goals. Tate has mailed it in more than once, and Kuntz has always had to act insane to make up for his talent deficiencies.

I think the point of this was just to forget about all the problems and throw our support to the team. Thats all, nothing more than that.

There are plenty of other threads to talk about all of the problems...

It is a thread on a message board, it has nothing to do with problems on the back burner. Why cant there be one thread that just throws full support behind our team against our biggest rival?

I dont see a problem with that

enjoy your fall from reality then. its going to hurt. USC still has a shot of getting into the BCS championship game (albeit a small one)...they are going to desecrate us to get style points.

Actually, PADOMER, I am the AD at Notre Dame. I just come on here to kill time and kick the fucking can down the road to the next guy.

Look, I think it's absurd to think this team has any remote shot at beating USC. And for the record, I am not happy. I do not like to lose, and if wanted to support mediocrity I would support Purdue football.

Irishfan,

We are not on drugs. We are not sitting here thinking that we are this outrageously awesome team. This post is simply saying, let's go and beat SC. Nothing more. It's saying that we are going to root as hard as we can. Nothing more.

What is rooting hard? Baking cookies for the team? Picking up their jock straps? (there will be a lot of those on the field) I would just like a definition of what exactly rooting hard for a team is.

I am not picking us to beat USC, I am saying I am going to support my team 100%, lets use this thread to support them, and we can use all the other ones to discuss all of the problems and how unhappy we are

Actually, I think I'll be washing and waxing Coach Weis's car for him. Not sure what the other guys are going to do to "root hard."
