I HATE asking for money for anything, but this is a really important cause for me...
This December, I'm running in the 2012 Las Vegas Rock'n'Roll Half Marathon as a member of Team Challenge Northeast Ohio.
What Team Challenge is is a fundraising and endurance training program for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America.
I have lived with Ulcerative Colitis for years, so this is a really big deal for me. This whole Team Challenge thing gives participants like me a chance to help raise funds to fund research programs to find a cure for these diseases.
But nearer and dearer to my heart is that 75% of every donation goes directly to the CCFA for research and support in Northeast Ohio and the continued support of Camp Oasis -- a summer camp for children afflicted with the diseases. I've worked at the camp and I cannot stress enough how big a deal camp is for some very strong (and very sick) children. It gives young kids a chance to have some fun and get away from a world that really doesn't understand how devastating Crohn's and UC are for their bodies and minds.
Like I said, I hate asking you guys for any money. But if you even have a dollar to spare, just know that I'd really appreciate it and it would be going towards an awesome cause.
More people than you probably think have Crohn's Disease or Ulcerative Colitis and they really suffer in silence. I really feel like we're getting closer and closer to figuring out these diseases and maybe one day curing them for good.
Thanks a ton!
