If you went to ND when Rudy was here - you knew Rudy. He seemingly went room to room in dorms and inroduced himself. That is no lie. At every tail-gate, or cock-tale party, where we would be together - people would say they met him that way. Most of these were a year or two before the movie started production.

Thanks Shipmate, and Happy Birthday to the Navy too this October. The only time I cried during "A Few Good Men" is when they carted off Jack Nicholson at the end of the court martial. He was a bad-ass CO.

I was at NAS Pt. Mugu, CA, when they filmed parts of the movie there. What a clusterfuck! A friend of mine was on the move crew, moving aircraft around for different shots. Pt. Mugu is featured in the scene where they land in "Cuba". The red and white checkerboard hangar in the background is the old VAQ-34 hangar. They took 8 days to get that one scene. While they were there, we got to see the stars wandering around base. I was on my way to the galley, one morning, and I saw Tom Cruise and Demi Moore walking down the sidewalk, with a whole gaggle of officers in tow.

That had to be cool. I just got back yesterday from a 30 day deployment to our Forward HQ at NSA Bahrain. Young Sailors and Marines have it pretty damn good at that base. My oldest son is a Marine too in Hawaii. Big Notre Dame fan too. Whole family is in green today.
