3-16 against ranked teams and worse season in Notre Dame history. Is that enough of a problem for ya? If you cant see that Weis cant get the job done with that track record than nothing will do it. And dont ever put Monte Kiffin in the same sentence as Romeo Crennel. Thats like putting Trent Dilfer in the same light as Dan Marino. If Crennel is such a proven commodity, when is no one knocking down his door? And did you happen to look at the Browns defense under his tenure? His last year in Cleveland, the Browns gave up 22 pts/gm...with 8 of them giving up 25+.

You bring up valid arguments about Weis's record against ranked teams, but the fact is, Notre Dame has never been able to field a competative defense under Weis and that has been a major issue in many of those losses. Why is it that this team has had such a difficult time recruiting elite defensive talent since Holtz left? I have not had any problems with the offense under Weis especially when he is calling the plays. I sense that this team is starting to turn the corner and its a "process" bringing a program back to prominance that does not happen over night. I think more harm can be done by firing Weis than letting him stay and try to right this ship defensively. Teo is a step in the right direction and we are on the fence with some other impact type defensive recruits that will surely look elsewhere if Weis is fired. I think we are close to once again becoming an elite program and I would hate to see the whole thing blown up and started again from scratch.

As far as Crennel goes, I would absolutely put his resume up against almost anyone's including Monte Kiffin's. Crennel was the defensive coordinator for a three time Super Bowl Championship team and has been a part of five Super Bowl Championship teams during his coaching history. Is that not a proven commodity a defensive coach? His stint in Cleveland concerns me very little being that the Browns are probably one of the worst franchises in the league in the last 40 years. Bill Belicheck could not turn that franchise around and neither could Crennel. So what? It is also not uncommon for coaches to take a year or two off between coaching gigs. I dont think there is any doubt he will be coaching somewhere in 2010 and I hope its as ND's defenisve coordinator.

Are there masochists on this board or am I missing something. You see the problems we are getting with Weis and now you want to bring in Crennel? Why not grab Mangini while we're at it?

lolololol, Hahahahaha. Could you imagine those press conferences? OMG
