Which do you prefer?..lately, I've been leaning toward Michigan. They are a clean program, Ohio $tate isn't.

I hate both of them the same, so, let's just call this a vote on which is the lesser of two evils.

UM by far. UM is a great school academically. They are tough, but not as arrogant as OSU. And I believe they are a clean program.

C. A giant hole opens in the ground and swallows them both up. But the hole wouldn't swallow Michigan. They would claim to have dug the hole and jumped in themselves.

Exactly!! When you lived amonst those A-Holes fans for most of your life, you tend to build up a deep rooted hatred for them.

I'm going with Michigan because Carr has a fantastic set of milkers.

Thank you, Nayers.

I believe it was Michael Corleone who said "Don't hate your enemies. It affects your judgement."

The Ohio State isn't even an annual game on the schedule.

I live among Cub fans. I feel sorry for them more than hate them, but I can't stand the Twins and Indians. I hate the entire AL East because ESPN thinks it is the only division in baseball.

The problem is, I don't have any reason to feel sorry for anOSU fans. I wish we'd had their recent success and I really wish we'd beaten them.

well it wasn't a question to see who we all feel sorry for the most, it was a question to see who we hated the least. With the exception of last year, we have only seen the Bucs 4 times...compare that to the amount of times we have seen UM. The overall series is 18-14-1 with UM leading...thats a close series, and in my humble definition a true on the field rivalry

The only school I "prefer" Michigan over is USC. And if they ever played, I would actually hope for the stadium to implode.

Honestly, for this board to prefer Michigan over Ohio State is rather puzzling. I only see two Ohio residents of those 11 votes and one of the 11 is our boy Maison.

I think that Fiesta Bowl is a tad too fresh in everyone's mind. I make a daily effort to try and erase it from my memory banks.

This Ohio resident refuses to vote.

I disliked OSU before the Fiesta Bowl. I've just had too many bad experiences with fans, including in Columbus when ND played there. I can take the smack talk and insults, but the spitting and some of the stuff shouted at my girlfriend (now wife) were just a bit too much. That kind of crap doesn't happen at ND. (Neither does crapping in coolers or overturning and burning cars for that matter)

For the record, I count among some of my best friends some OSU alumni and big fans. They have their bright spots. But even those guys change on Saturday afternoons.

The Notre Dame-Ohio State rivalry doesn't exist.

I can relate in regards to the White Sox and Cubs in baseball. The Indians, Twins and Tigers are rivals. The Cubs are not. Prior to moronic Interleague play, the Sox and Cubs never played in a game that counted (The "Crosstown Classic" was exhibition and usually featured scrubs and minor leaguers). Now they play 6 times a year. The Sox play their division rivals 18-19 times a season.

There is no rivalry between the Sox and Cubs. They play in different leagues. There is no "city championship" to play for. The rivalry exists becasue the fan bases live amongst each other and perceive a rivalry to be so. Every year, for two interleague weekend series our local media builds up some "baseball apocalypse" that really isn't such. it is three games. So what.

So as a Notre Dame fan in Ohio, I can understand this. I live in Chicago and don't really get too much negativity.

Not a bad analogy, which is why it's mostly Ohio ND fans that dislike the buckeyes.

Perfect example: Guff posted in another thread he doesn't like Penn State. He's an ND fan, lives in PA and doesn't like their fans.

This is probably true for everyone wherever you live, especially if you're an ND fan and you live in Big Ten Country.

Or the SEC...or the PAC 10.....or the Big 12.....

I think it has more to do with anO$U's recent history of thuggery, RE: that list of Tressel-era offenses you posted in another recent thread. I think that really turns people here off.

It's that and Michigan's helmets--there's no getting around the fact that they're the coolest helmets in all football. Meanwhile, anO$U's helmets are all covered by those hideous, nursery-school Buckeye stickers. No class whatsoever.

this is something i simply don't get about UM fans - the notion that they have the best uniforms, helmets and fight song in all of college football. this sentiment is repeated often and defended vigorously on the UM boards.

it's not that i dislike their helmets or fight song. they're fine, just like everybody else's. it just seems like such a subjective, not to mention random, thing to argue about. i can see the entertainment derived from arguing about who's team is/was better, or individual player performances, etc., but the uniforms? fight songs? it seems like something that you and your best friend's girlfriends would argue about while they're being forced to watch the game with you.

edit: i will agree, however, with the helmet sticker issue. i absolutely loathe the practice of singling out individual players by name or performance. if i had my way, i'd outlaw helmet stickers and names on jerseys.

Oglaigh, you live in Columbus!!

My late aunt was a Bears and Notre Dame fan living in Florida before she passed away (in 1993, she answered the phone the week of the FSU game "Go Irish"). She was surrounded by Miami, Florida State and Florida fans. Before long, she was convinced that they had the most obnoxious fan bases anywhere. SHE WAS LIVING AMONG THEM.

I guess I have it easy. I live in Chicago, which is ND West in all reality.
