McKnight will have a great year. I bet he goes for close to 1,000 yards receiving. The Shark will get his too. It will be great if Brady can throw for over 3,000 this season.

Given his hands (he can make great catches) and his speed, he will fit wonderfully.

I personally think that Stovall stepped up in 2005 and started playing like McKnight.

McKnight has to know that if he has a stellar season this year he will go in the 1st or 2nd round.

Remember the he was Quinn's favorite target before 2005. From everything I hear his injury was fortuitous for the team...sad, but it all worked out.

The one area I am curious about is "can he block like Stovall?". Stovall was getting quite good at utilizing his size to block...

Rhema is the least of my worries. He'll be good. Plus, I'm pretty sure Charlie knows how to utilize him.

I'm pretty worried. I've never had a knee injury myself, but my brother tore his ACL, and even years after his surgery he still says he notices it every now and then. It seems like something that could mess with your mentality in a game, also.

I am really looking forward to Rhema this season. He was, like was said earlier, Quinn's favorite target for his first 2 seasons. He "was the lone bright spot in an offense that struggled greatly" i think is how one article i read a while ago put it. He'll be great. He has the perfect balance of skills. He's fast but not quite a burner, has great hands, good size, strong, and with 2 years of Weis his blocking won't be a problem. He and The Shark will be all Brady needs to have an even better season than last year and will propel Brady to the Heisman, and ND to the National Championship.

GO IRISH!!!

If Samardzija has as many yards as he had last year in recieving, I will be very surprised. You don't think that Samardzija will be in the crosshairs of every defensive coordinator we play this year? I think that McKnight will help alleviate that issue somewhat. The only good thing about his injury last year is that it was early on in the season and that he didn't have a chance to play against most of our teams. This means that he may be able to fly under the radar for a while. Samardzija will not be able to fly under the radar this season like he did last season.

I don't think it matters. You can't stop him, especially not with Quinn throwing to him. If you load up on him to stop him, or key on him, you get burned elsewhere, and you stop keying on him so much. Samardzija was the focus last season too once a few games had been played. How'd that work out?

That said, there isn't any star or number one option. The ball gets passed around.

One of my bold predictions for this season is that McKnight will actually put up better numbers than Samardzija.

I second that motion. McKnight will be the deep threat, and if I remember correctly, he understood the system and did better in the system than anybody until his injury. As a deep threat, he may get some nice long balls as defenses concentrate on Jeff and vice versa. Rhema will also rack up some nice underneath & YAC yards, b/c Weis can always send Hord or Grimes deep to open the underneath for McKnight to play around. I think we have 1 QB & 2 WRs in the first round next year.

Don't forget that Weis singled out Rhema after Spring Ball, (and almost no one else) saying that he looked great. He, according to Weis, is quicker, faster and running great routes. As for rehab, remember that he is an elite athlete with the goal of playing in the NFL & he has excellent docs working with him - I would fully expect his recovery to be significantly faster than the average. I truly believe that he will have an outstanding season.

Also the injury was really early last season and he did not rush to come back so he should be in good shape.

i'm really looking forward to seeing some friendly competition between rhema and shark for the #1 wr spot. i think they'll push each other to the point they'll be flying across the field with a couple top 10's every saturday. the expectations on rhema will make him work harder, especially now that he knows he could possibly go first round with an AA season. i agree with you irishwave....you never know how the draft will pan out but would you ever believe two nd wr could go 1st round....not to mention along with their qb. I LOVE BEING ABLE TO WRITE ABOUT THIS STUFF!
