Recruiting dead period.

Ok so we have reached the recruiting dead period. we only lost Harrison and Wilson. Frierson as well but I'm glad we lost him. We look like we have a shot at getting Wilson back. Weis did a great job keeping most of his commits.

David Nelson is a soft commit right now. Urban has made a strong push to get him, and nelson has all of a sudden shown interest in florida. Weis has to stay on top of this. Don't let Urban steal him.

They should have the assistants in place when recruiting dead period opens up gain. They'll need to work very hard to bring in a decent class. I don't think the class will be top 25, but I'm hoping for it to be close, hopefully next year we have a nice season, that would bring in a great class. Next year is very important, but Weis has the whole offense starters returning.

I think this recruiting class is lost. They need to have open tryouts on campus to get some guys together. What a shame. Things are not looking very good. David Moosman of Libertyville, IL committed to Michigan. He won't even visit ND now. Another lineman lost. I'm trying to keep on open, optimistic mind, but from the sounds of things ND is getting ripped from every angle. The 17-18 year old mind can be easily manipulated. After all, these guys are salesmen as much as they are coaches.

And so much for the Patriots on Monday Night Football being an audition for Weis to recruit. Tom Brady looked horrendous.

Right now we have 8 commits, all of whom are nice recruits, hopefully we get wilson back that would make 9, figure we get a few more, Duncan looks like a lock.

We have 21 spots to fill. now we have 9 presuming wilson comes back solid recruits, if we could get anoter 5 or 6 solid recruits that would make 15, with the 6 remaining spots that would be left rather then give them to some no body 2 star recruits, I would move those six or so spots onto next years class. Next years class would then probably give us 26 to 30 spots to offer intead of the usual 18 to 22.

Next season I think we'll have a good year and with 25 to 30 offers to hand out we could bring in a monster class. Of course ND would need to at least have a good season. When ND wins they can recruit with anyone.

I agree we can hold out some spots for next year. But at the same time we should actively look for some sleepers.
After all I believe Justin Tuck coming out of high school was only a 2 star recruit. We at least need to gamble on some DBs and Olineman that show potential.

I don't believe you can offer that many positions in a single year. Also, I suspect that if we embrace all of our possible fifth-year seniors, we'll be maxed-out anyway. We're certainly alright in terms of numbers of bodies (although the oline situation is getting scary).

I suspect Weis will pick up a couple of recruits that ignored Ty (or were being ignored by Ty). We have a QB, two receivers, a FB, a DB, and two LBs. Two of those seven are 'keeping their options open.' We have a DE who is still interested in talking to Weis. We will probably pick up a couple of linemen and a couple of top recruits, but this class will most likely look a lot like last year's. Ty couldn't recruit anyway, and the last few weeks didn't help.

I think the staff will determine everything. The right staff could put a top-10 class together in the closing weeks. Regardless, I'm still expecting a lot of big names on the coaching staff. If the Cutcliffe rumors are true, Weis ain't dickin' around.

Your point? Weis hung 28 points on the Dolphins, one of the better defenses in the NFL, even DESPITE Brady's four interceptions. You have to wonder if not getting as much attention from Weis over the last week really made Brady that much worse. If his presence really affects Brady that much, Weis really is a stud.

I don't think you can put all that on Weis' shoulders. For one, that banged up secondary of New England's finally started to crack, and that has nothing to do w/ the offense. Also, Brady's 3rd INT, the one that really hurt them, can't be Weis' fault, that's just a mental error on Brady. Its not like Weis called for the play to go that way, Brady's been playing long enough that it shouldn't take a reminder by his O.C. every week to know not to throw the ball in that situation.

Brady looked as bad as I've ever seen him. I don't think the Patriots will have anything to do with swaying the minds of these recruits. Weis is going to have to rule the living room. I doubt he's calling guys this week saying "Did you see that game Monday night?" I think people are reaching when they consider this.

your certainly allowed that many. You just can't go over 85. if you have 30 spots available you can offer 30. heck Auburn brought in 35 guys two years ago, and in the last three years Auburn has brought in over 90 guys, they average about 30 scholorships a year. that school is a joke.

This is true. It all depends on who graduates, leaves early, leaves school, etc. Take what's available, add to it what you lost and you have what's left. Could be high 20 or low 30 depending on the situation.
