I like the three RB rotation we'd have with Hughes, Allen and Aldridge. There's nothing wrong with redundancy and variety at that position. Besides, Allen is stockier than Rocket, and may not be tall enough to use to good advantage at wideout.

I was watching the Arkansas game this past weekend and I was extremely impressed with the game plan on offense and working in Darren Mcfadden at rb, qb and slot. This is a tough scheme to perfect but does anyone think it's possible with Armando?

Has anyone else noticed how many teams are trying to do this and how many fans are complaining that CW hasn't done enough of it, but if you'll notice no one has been as successful at running it as Arkansas. A lot of that has to do with who's running it for them as much as it is the system itself. Besides McFadden the only other people that I can really think of that have been very successful with it are Vince Young at Texas, and Pat White at WVU and if you'll notice neither team runs it that well when when those guys are in the game. Weather that's because VY left for the NFL, or when Pat White's been injuried.

Not to split hairs here, but Nutt-ball's offense is not your standard spread option. Vince "people CLAIM I just win" Young and Pat White are (supposedly) QB's - DMac isn't (though he may actually be a better passer than Casey Dick.) There's a big difference between having a great option QB take the snap and having someone like DMac take the snap while your QB lines up wide - that will confuse the shit out of a defense. That offense is so "Nutt"y that it isn't even comparable to a spread option, triple option, bi-les option or whatever.

Just look at how many times DMac took the snap vs. LSU (with Felix Jones in the backfield, and many times the QB lining up wide.) How do you defend that? You need to be ready for a "trick" play every damn time.

Now I'm not saying that's a great offense; just that it is a far cry from your run-of-the-mill option team.

I was talking more about spreading everyone out and running the zone read. I fully realize that Arkansas's Wilcat version has a few more twists to it, but let's see how long that works or lasts without McFadden back there running it.

I agree 100%... once DMac is gone they're gonna be in trouble unless they completely change their game and stop playing sandlot "Nutt"cat offense.

All I can say is if Schwapp gets assigned to ANYTHING more than blocking, someone making the call needs their damn head examined! He can never gain more than 1-2 yards per attempt. Virtually ZERO whenever it's 3rd or 4th and short. Plus, he couldn't hold onto the ball if it was super glued to his damn hands and duct taped on the outside as well.

Schwaap is horrible!!! He cannot even block! He wiffed on at least a dozen blocks Saturday! I think Weis has a man crush on him or something...how does he keep getting carries. I say put a TE back there to block or Hughs! Allen stays at RB btw...I think he has the biggest upside of the big 3...he has that break off an 80 yard run at anytime speed!!! I wish he had a chance to get to full speed this year...I look for him to improve the most next year!!!

I think that Asaph has incriminating pics on Charlie!!!!!!! ha ha. There is no other reason he should be playing.

If we honestly cannot find someone to do a better job than Asaph has done this year, we need to dump schemes that involve a fullback. This is no discredit to any effort Schwapp has given, but he cannot do what we are asking him to do. Apparently he is the better of the two fullbacks we have so God only knows what Schmidt looks like.

He has fumbling issues so we cannot use him to rush. Not to mention the fact that Hughes has a better short-yardage ability anyway. Then he misses a lot of blocks, and when he does make them they are not clean and rarely do much to improve the rush. We simply do not have a use for someone who lacks blocking ability and fumbles too often.

Move Schwaap to defense. He played LB in high school. I get the sense of impending doom when he lines up in the backfield.

With his strength, maybe he could be a runstopper LB. He sure as heck cannot run with the ball and he also cannot catch a pass. PLEASE Charlie, give Luke a shot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are begging you!!!!!!!!!!!! Good news is that Luke has 3 more years of eligibility. I think he will move ahead of Asaph in the off-season.

I think all the extra lifting he did this summer to put on extra weight really hurt him comming off of his knee injury.

Let's just thank Schwapp for what little he has produced and for the efforts he has apparently put forth in practice....some guys are great practice guys and they simply choke in game situations....given his propensity for bone-jarring blocks on patches of defenseless turf in several stadiums, one can only assume one of two things:

1) ND practice players move slower than stationary grass....hmmm, could be, but not likely...

or

2) Schwapp is one of those aforementioned "practice" guys....

If this were basketball instead of football, he would probably drive Allen Iverson crazy; but when it was game time Iverson would drop 30, have 8 assists and 4 steals and Schwapp would miss the front-end of a one-on-one in the last minute to seal the game for the opponent.

Given the utter inability of Schwapp to do anything football related (can't catch reliably, can't block reliably, can't run short yardage plays reliably, looks mystified on every single blitz) on the fields on Saturdays, I can only assume Schmidtt is WORSE...if thats actually possible. If Schmidtt is actually worse than Schwapp, just skip it and go with Hughes and Allen or Aldridge and Allen in a Pro formation set. If we need to go to an I-formation, put Stewart or Losn at FB and run behind them.

Schwapp's career long carry is 7 yards. That was his freshman year.

Guys,
I am convinced that this is Charlie falling in love with a guy who can bench press a house and thinking that it will tranfer to field performance. I have watched several highlight films of Luke in high school and the kid was a stud. I will really be curious to see him in spring ball. I have also watched him on kick off return and he made some nice blocks, so not sure what CW's deal is.

He played alright in last year's spring game.
