Similar to defensive tackle, here are my ten favorite defensive ends in America that I've seen to this point:

1. Ben Martin Cincinnati (OH) LaSalle 6-5/220/4.5
There really isn't much to say. He's probably the best senior in Ohio and that says a lot considering the talent that comes out of there each year. Ranks up there with Marvin Austin as ND's top overall target this year.

2. Richetti Jones Dallas (TX) Lincoln 6-3/234/4.78
His film and his numbers speak for themselves. Tremendous pass rusher. Fierce hitter. Others probably wouldn't rate him this high, but I do. Take the 40 time and shove it after you watch his film.

3. Allen Bailey Darien (GA) McIntosh County Academy 6-3/252/4.95
He had 138 tackles last season. Any questions? Gets to the ball quickly. Big.

4. Sidell Corley Mobile (AL) McGill-Toolen 6-4/250/4.8
Florida verbal who had an ND offer. Tremendous player that should get bigger, faster and stronger on the college level. Should be a prototypical SEC DE.

5. Domonic Glover Mission Viejo (CA) Mission Viejo 6-4/230/5.13
He comes from a strong program. I like this guy a lot. Shows more muscle than that listed size. Forty time will probably worry most people.

6. Everson Griffen Avondale (AZ) Agua Fria 6-4/263/4.63
Incredible agility for his size. Could play DT, TE, who knows. For the purposes of this list, let's call him a DE and a very good one. This guy will play on Sundays.

7. D'Angelo McCray Jacksonville (FL) Andrew Jackson 6-5/265/4.64
This guy and Corley together? Yikes. Pretty versitile athlete who could also play TE, but in Urban's offense that would be a waste.

8. Kenny Rowe Long Beach (CA) Poly 6-2/216/4.91
His size is the reason I rank him here, but make no mistake: this guy can play. He gets after it in the way that a Poly Jackrabbit would.

9. Martez Wilson Martez Wilson Chicago (IL) Simeon 6-4/228/-
He won't be a secret much longer. Figure by Labor Day, you'd either be living under a rock or on the golf course in order for this guy to slip past you. ND is recuiting him as an OLB, but DE is where he could end up. One of the better mean streaks you'll find in America.

10. Rae Sykes Alcoa (TN) Alcoa 6-4/230/4.7
Similar to Corley and Wilson, he won't stay on #10 long. He seems to move faster than the 4.7 speed listed. Interesting prospect.

Thanks, Jigg. How are you feeling about Wilson?

Love him. Wilson and Bailey are two of my favorites after what I've seen.

That Bailey has got a nose for the football. 136 tackles as a DE? Crazy.

I like the flexibility that some of these DE's bring. There will be some OLB/DE possibilities and in a couple years, the defense should be loaded with guys who can rush the passer. In terms of a pass rush, Tuck has basically been it for quite some time. Imagine two or three of him on the field at one time.

Hey Jigga, what do think about Trattou?

You know, he's solid Very tough kid. Probably better than John Ryan but not as good as Martin or Richetti Jones. His offer list is so so. ND, Penn State, BC, Rutgers, Louisville, Northwestern among others. But he's very solid, wants to be at ND and fits the mold of a Weis kind of player. What isn't to like?

The one thing about Richetti Jones is that he truly seems to be going through the recruiting process. Texas isn't so much of a lock as everyone once thought. He really wants to look at selective schools and see what they have to offer, hear what they have to say.

It could play into Notre Dame's favor. They need to stay on him and get him on campus.

Ohio State has offered him as well. Though, they pretty much concede his lock to ND.
