The AP and USA today polls are a similar, with the exception this one is illustrates my point better, so Im using the USA Today Poll. I used colors to link ideas.
USA Today Poll
1. Ohio State (56) 7-0 1,495
2. Boston College (1) 7-0 1,383
3. South Florida (3) 6-0 1,320
4. Oklahoma 6-1 1,288
5. LSU 6-1 1,173
6. Oregon 5-1 1,077
7. West Virginia 5-1 1,007
8. South Carolina 6-1 997
9. California 5-1 983
9. USC 5-1 983
11. Virginia Tech 6-1 982
12. Arizona State 7-0 936
13. Kentucky 6-1 874
14. Florida 4-2 726
15. Kansas 6-0 705
LSU is still top 5 while Kentucky is 13; with the same records, am I missing something? Didnt Kentucky JUST BEAT LSU yesterday?
3 Pac-10 teams are in the top-10, all with conference losses. Yet undefeated ASU is ranked 12th. They are beating teams USC and Cal cant beat, and are ranked below them, after outscoring Washington 31-3 in the second half last night. That's NUTS!
Call it a "WACKY AND WILD" season, but I can gaurantee you this, most of those top-10 teams aren't going to finish there. This ranking system is ignorant; it's not an upset when Kentucky beats LSU. LSU has been on the ropes 3 times now. USC is struggling to beat mid- to bottom-tier Pac-10 teams. Boston College and South Florida haven't played a single team to make them worthy of #2 and #3, respectively. BC will lose next week, and South Florida shortly after that (probably the Thursday night game). I can't wait to see West Virginia lose again, and how many loses does it take to knock florida out of the top 15?
