I am researching how game statistics and returning starters influence scoring and winning.

My first question: Is there a website that shows the game day stats for all the 1A teams each Saturday? Things like yds/game, breakout of passing vs rushing attempts and yards, etc.?

My second question: Is there a website that shows the numbering of returning starters per 1A team. Something with the breakout of offense vs defense returning starters and quarterbacks, etc.?

I can get annual totals for question #1 from the sports network, but are there any sources for all the individual games?

Any help would be appreciated.

Stats for every game - the four letter dot com has scores and stats for every game but you have to get the stats for each individual game, each week - 117 teams over 14 or 15 weeks. That's a massive undertaking.

Returning starters - May not be a website but the college football preview mags will have something similar

And the problem with stats is no matter how complete they only tell part of the story. To quote Mark Twain "There are three types of lies: lies, damn lies, statistics"

Thanks guff,

At this point, I have the season total statistics for 117 teams divided by their respective number of games played. When the average team points per game is compared to:

1. Off Tot yds/game - the relationship is .883
2. Net Tot yds/game - .783 (Team - opponent)
3. Rush yds/game - .769
4. Pass yds/game - .511

I know that this does not point to any one individual game, it is the season averages for teams that played 11, 12 or 13 games. When these stats are compared to scoring and you total 117 teams, my Excel spreadsheet showed this relationship.

During the season I intend to follow the 25-30 teams that appear weekly in the Allentown or Harrisburg newspaper's "latest line" column. I am not a 117 team glutton for punishment!
