Hey all!

I usually drop into opposing team territory the week before a game and answer any questions an opposing fan may have about Purdue in an unbiased manner (former media member)! Looking forward to the game and should be a game where both teams can really see where they stand this year.

Fire away if you have any questions about the Boilermakers this year or the WL area (gameday, restaurants, parking, etc.) if you’re coming to visit!

How do you feel about the programs direction in Year #2 under Walters?
Personally, I feel very good about it. It seems like the players are more locked in than under Brohm and I believe that he will show to be a better recruiter over time. He's a young energetic guy who is getting his feet under him still but has already shown signals of maturity such as taking over the defensive playcalling midway through last year, moving the OC/DC into the box, etc.

The program is definitely better in Year 2 than in Year 1. Will that equate to more than 4 wins this year? Maybe, maybe not...but the team is 100% better than last year.

This question is going to come off as snarky and I promise it's not as we may be in the same boat. With the landscape of college football, how does it feel being a fan of a team that has no chance to ever win a National Title? 10-15 years ago, a Drew Brees may help you catch lightning in a bottle. In todays game Brees would probably have left for Oregon. I find it to be completely unfair that you have maaaaaybe 15-20 teams/programs that have a real shot year in and year out....Everyone else is just trying to play spoiler.

As someone who has personally been to many Purdue games, I have one request. Can you talk to the program about changing or even limiting "1, 2, 3, 4 first down bitch (or allegedly Boilers)".

I think participation in that chant wanes every year. Stupid if you ask me. We have season tickets right by the student section and not many of them did it in the first game. Of course, that was Indiana State so it was more of a social event after the first five minutes.

Well that’s just rude. Come on an ND board and slander the Trees?

I don't really think of it. I know the place of Purdue not only in the landscape overall, but the Big Ten. Are there years where Purdue might challenge to get into a 12 team playoff? Maybe - but you certainly won't if you get a season with USC, Ohio State, Oregon, Michigan, and Penn State on it.

I just want to see competitive football with the occasional 8-9 win season.

Go to their board. I promise you the self-imposed slander is waaaay worse.

They also ran the ball 40 times and completely gave up in the game. Not sure why you would run the ball 3 times in a row and punt in the 3rd quarter if you were trying to win and not just run the clock out.

Ya, I'm from Pittsburgh and I have a lot of friends that went to Pitt. They seem pretty blah about college football anymore because of how things are...It makes the Pitt's and Purdue's of the world happy with 8/9 win seasons, and lets be honest that's kind of sad. I think Jordan Addison going to USC really let them know that they are one of the 120ish "minor league" programs out there. College football is so broken and I can see the SEC or UM/OSU/Oregon or USC winning the next 20 titles. Nobody else included.

I am more surprised the chant isn’t, “1, 2, 3, 4, IU sucks.”
That is reserved for kickoffs - but maybe we all should be doing it more since one IU fan thinks IU is the best team in the state after drubbing one of the worst FCS teams in a decade. Of course, the only reason IU played Western Illinois is because they paid Louisville 1 million to get off their schedule and replaced them with WIU.

Well, to be fair - the rich are still rich, the middle class is still the middle class, and the bad are still bad. NIL didn't do much shifting of the game other than players transferring more willingly.

Good players on solid teams will transfer up to P4 and guys stuck on the bench at P4's will transfer down to play.

I understand what you mean....But if you catch a year with Rod Rutherford, Larry Fitz and LeSean McCoy and they go 9-3 as Jr's. In 2004 that team is coming back to potentially win a Natty, how awesome for the fan base! In 2024 Rutherford goes to Ole Miss, Larry Fitz to USC and McCoy to Bama or OSU.

I enjoy going to Ross Ade. Used to go to the oaken bucket games when I was ball state. Always had a better time there than at IUs shithole
Have you been since the renovations? Likely not - as you probably wouldn't have had a reason. It's much improved and feels more modern.

I have not. It does look a little nicer on TV than what it used to be for sure
