I was reading a post on another forum that attached a picture of the OL practicing against "defenders" holding up blocking pads.

This pic was supposedly from Wednesday's practice and Tuesdays practice was supposedly in shorts.

Is there anyone who watches the practices at all or knows someone who does that can confirm whether NFL-Charlie is still doing this?

It's a little hard to develop mean and nasty OL when they're trying to keep their pleated, khaki shorts clean.

Weis can't figure out why players aren't learning - Notre Dame Central - MSNBC.com
What makes it even more frustrating, Weis said, is the players look better in practice than they do in games. He used the example of the corner blitzes Air Force used. Weis said Air Force did just what the Irish expected, the backs were able to pick up the corner blitzes in practice but didn't do it during the game.

This tells me they still aren't practicing full speed and full hitting. If they were practicing full speed, there's no reason they shouldn't have picked up the cornerback blitz if they were doing so during full speed practice.

It's because they have no confidence. Once something bad happens they are already almost ready to give up. Therefore they aren't as alert and trying as hard as tehy normally would be. It's too late to start practicing hard now. You have to start doing it in fall camp.

There definitely have to be mental issues plaguing the boys. But I disagree that starting full speed now is too late. Instead of waiting until spring, start now and give them more time to get adjusted. It may not fix this year, but it should give them a head start on next year.

Again, i don't know if every practice is less than full speed and less than full hitting. Assuming that picture is accurate from last week, all it shows is one practice was in shorts and with blocker pads.

That's what I ment. I didn't mean that they shouldn't do it. I only thought that they started doing it too late to fix it this year.

The question is, did they go full-speed in earlier practices? I don't think anyone does it EVERY practice, but most do it at least on a Monday or a Tuesday. Heck, we did it on a Sunday earlier in the year. There should be at least one, balls out, punch each other in the mouth, fight or go home practice every week. And it should be for like 10 hours. These guys look so the opposite of tough out there.

I think it's probably one picture that doesn't tell the whole story. I can't imagine them always practicing in shorts with rushers holding pads. We can't assume anything from this picture.

Agreed, I clarified that in a later post:

SoCal,

Yeah, I was just throwing that thought out there. Not aimed at anyone's comments.

They started Full Speed practices just after the scUM game... They still go full speed from what I hear. (not 100% of the time)
