What were people's take on the safety play? No one stood out to me.

They looked a step or two slow on coverage. I think that teams will try to create matchups where they force our safties to plan man coverage.

Rees looked solid, only criticism was that he overthrew a couple hook routes today. Would like to see more consistency from those routes.

Oline did well, but it is Temple

WRs are great like I thought they would be. I was with Kelly 100%, a more balance WR corps can be more effective, though I think DD will end up being a stud

Defense was not only rusty, but was not thinking. When the QB recognizes the corner blitz and has been burning you all game when you do that, check out of the damn blitz

Running game was great, people are hating on GAIII too much. He did get pummeled on that one play early on, but I think everyone had big plays and not so big plays (like every RB in the country).

I agree that is seemed as though we either rushed 3 or we rushed like 6 or 7. I know Diaco feels more comfortable blitzing this year, but you dont need to blitz the house every time you decide to blitz.

Need to cut down on penalties a little, I know the Bennett Jackson PI call was non-existent, but we still had quite a few.

People keep talking about "lack of pressure," and I have to disagree. I thought we had plenty of pressure, but the Temple QB was throwing quick routes again and again. Its hard to sack a QB that only holds onto the ball for 2 secs.

A win is a win. Very vanilla on offense after 14-0 lead. Bryant and Folsten....thunder and lightning. Want to see Niklas in the passing game some more.

Temple had a good game plan and their qb played well. They are on the uptick.

I know we don't want to show Michigan much, they got tons of tape already. They know what they are gonna get. Coach Martin had me scratching my head with his play calling at times.

Jaylon> councell

Folston is very special

Amir, cam, ga3, folston, Bryant at this point...

Kicking game....YIKES

Idk how from one series each you can determine that Folston is going to be a stud and is a head of Bryant.

I was very impressed with Temple's QB for being a freshman. That dude took some hits in the 2nd half.

I can't determine who's sexier, Bryant or Jaylon.

OL looked really good with their blitz adjustments

DD, and TJ played well.

I really do not know if GA3 has what it takes to be a feature back. His acceleration is horrendous and he continues to not lower hit pad level.

The key points in my mind have been expressed above, but in general, I think it's the perfect game for the first week. Not seriously pressed, so it keeps confidence high, but plenty of areas to work on this week, so that nobody gets a big head. A perfect game from Kelly's Michigan game prep perspective. I will emphasize: this placekicking situation is gonna break our hearts: as you know, kicking is about confidence and he looks deeply shaken to me.

Yep.

Cam or Amir are our starting RB, IDC what the program says.

Brown,Daniels,TJ were very good today

Rees showed he could move the ball well. Still missed some throws against better teams he has to hit.

O-line looked good

Wasn't impressed with the Defense

Special Teams were Special all right (not in a good way)

Amir is going to be good for us. He is Quic.

GaIII didn't impress me at all.

TJ is very aggressive with punt returns. i like him back there.

He's not a freshman. He was their holder, on kicks, last season. He's a first year starter, but not a freshman.

Tommy looked like he had a much stronger arm. Impressed me with some throws.

Defense looks bad and I think Michigan will score a lot of points.

Yeah I'm thinking next week will be a shoot out. Shumate really struggled today. No wonder Collinsworth is starting.

Yup but you could see the difference in athletic ability though. I don't know if our defense was so blah for a reason or what.

On a positive note, our defense gave up 21 more yards this year than they did last year against Navy in game 1 (I think).

A compelling game on many different levels.

*Tommy was Tommy.... Good and bad. He'll be fine and I don't think he'll kill us. Kelly's comment about him getting outside of the pocket made me laugh. He'd struggle in a race with a sleeping sloth. Overall, a good game. Made some nice plays and liked the way he was checking down on receivers.

WR and RB.... Excellent day. We can shuttle guys in and out and not miss a beat. I'm excited at these skill positions.

OL.... Clearly, the strength of the team. enough said

DB's.... Did it seem that they were picking on Bennett Jackson today a lot? I'd of thought they'd go at Russell but it is what it is I guess. Not bad. Farley was caught out of position WAY TOO MANY TIMES. As a whole, I thought the safety play was pretty bad.

DL.... Did they even show up? Tuitt had a nice sack, Day did well at times and Lou was being manhandled by 3 guys on every snap, but if he's eating up 3 blocks, what the hell is everyone else doing??? That all leads into my next thought....

LB's....I love these guys, and one is from my hometown, but Calabresse and Fox are out of their element. OMG, are they playing in quicksand or concrete? On top of that, I watched Carlo 3 times go for knock out tackles and the runner/receiver completely brushed it off. Williams over-pursues everything and takes himself out of most plays leaving the edge open for a scrambling qb or rb off tackle on his side. Jaylon is going to be a player. He's gotten his feet wet and will improve. Grace....The jury is out on this one. Give him an incomplete. Made a nice tackle, but looked like he was thinking vs. playing.

Special Teams.... I'm gonna need somemore brew before I even attempt to break down that abortion.

Great question and I wonder the same.

Wait until Longo gets a hold of them.

There was some good and bad both to take from this game. More good than bad, obviously...

- Tommy looked good. Really good. His arm strength and accuracy seems to have gotten better. I know it's just Temple, but I feel much better about Rees going forward than I did going into today.

- All of the WRs looked great today, particularly T.J.

- Offensive line dominated, though I suppose that was to be expected.

- Thought Carlise looked like our best back. Was underwhelmed with Atkinson. McDaniel ran hard, and I thought the freshmen looked good in their brief appearances.

- Defense was underwhelming and will have to be better for us to beat Michigan. The defensive line didn't seem to get much pressure on the QB and the linebackers didn't really make any plays.

- Another poster said "offense should have had more points, defense should have given up more". Totally agree with that.

- Special teams was horrid.

- I know he had a sack, but Tuitt looked a step slow. I think Ishaq has made some progress. Didn't see much of Jaylon today. Shembo looked good.

Both of their season are on the line tonight. This is like a playoff game for them and temple was a scrimmage.

We will be full blown werewolf mode in Ann arbor

I'd add to that that Daniels was absolute monster while out there.

I still cry at night about the thought of him being a speed safety. He's not a RB.

Yours truly ;).

He actually ran 'around' his tackle a few times. I personally thought he didn't 'bull rush' well.
