According to Mike Frank, Kelly will be meeting with the Cincy staff today, and he'll meet with the remaining Irish staff tomorrow. We'll know things in the next couple of days...

Brian Kelly is already leading ND into the forefront of innovation, in College Football. First, Rockne brought the forward pass, now Kelly will introduce the "Two Defensive Coordinators" scheme.

CO-Defensive Coordinators for Weis. Kelly is apparently going to have 2 full Defensive Coordinators, according to the geniuses at that website.

Does that mean that we get 2 full defenses as well, which could be out there at the same time? Wow! Never thought of that. I'm liking this Kelly guy more and more every day....

Also Jeff Genyk is currently an ACC broadcaster who spent 1994-2003 at Northwestern and served as Special Teams Coordinator and Recruiting Coordinator from 1998-2003. Was head coach at Eastern Mich. from 2003-2008 and failed miserably (15-42 overall).

I was at the D2 Championship game and Chuck Martin's wife (we know her) hinted at the fact that Chuck had been offered the DC position at ND and despite the interview where he said he would take it, they were still deciding on it and weren't sure as of Saturday. He was tearful after the game which he has NEVER been before even after losses. The team has a meeting on Monday with the coaches. I'm not saying that he is going to take it but if he does it will be very soon because they are not meeting again until after xmas except for Monday.

Kelly will meet with the Irish staff on Monday, the Cinci staff on Tuesday

Rivals staff believesthat if Alford is offered he will choose ND over Floida. Polian and Corwin look to be in fair shape as far asstaying is concerned and there has been some speculation as Bryant Young being the new DL coach

Again this is all speculation but id be happy with that

I like all that news. The Bryant Young thing is confusing...academically. He is a graduate student full time. He carries at least nine credits. He just started in August. It should take him 4 semesters to complete the program. I'd be surprised to see it work out in that he only complete one semester and take the D line job full time

ridiculous statements. who cares who has heard of who? I cant name 5 college coordinators right now and I watch 3 games a week minimum.

Tenuta was a huge name and his d has been a disaster.

Get guys who win and get results. Period

Bryant Young cannot recruit as a Grad Assistant, right? If that is the case...I totally understand making him the fulltime dline coach. Who cares if they are big name guys...we were all VERY excited about guys CW brought in...how did that work out?

yea thats you, who cant name any coordinators. Not me! I never said Tenuta was a good hire, I thought his style of defense could never be consistent at any program. Hart was a bad hire as well. and in the coaching world, it does matter who you have heard of and big names, they dont get those big names by being unsuccessful.

"Get guys who win and get results. Period" Thats comment with a lot of thought.

There are plenty of coaches out there that can coach defense just as good as the big names....to think otherwise just shows ignorance.

It doesnt take a lot of thought. You bring in coaches with a track record of winning on the college level.

Nobody heard of Urban Meyer when Utah hired him, Stoops when Oklahoma hired him. These guys werent just born big names. They won at steadily increasing levels of competition and became the big names they are.

Who is the big blockbuster D coordinator? Strong and Muschamp? Strong just got hired as a head coach and Muschamp is the coach in waiting at Texas.

I dont care about the name. Give me a guy who is good at what he does.

So I've heard now from people involved at GVSU that Chuck was not offered the DC position. He was offered an assistant head coach and defensive backs coach position and the DC from Cincy would come to ND to be the DC. That is why he and his family weren't sure if they were going to accept it immediately.

These are just rumors but come from pretty reliable sources. Haven't heard what happened at team meetings yet but will report on that as soon as I hear.

Why does it seem like we are gonna end up with Cinci's entire staff? Is Kelly not going to try and at least interview potential DC candidates

Why would we not want Cincy's entire staff? Remember, it's been that entire staff, not just Kelly, that has won 10+ games the past three years. I realize that Cincy's D had some tough games this year, but they were also replacing 10 starters. Everyone points to the Pittsburgh game and Pitt's 45 points as a reason that Cincy's d-coordinator sucks, but Tony Pike threw three interceptions in that game that led to points for Pitt. Honestly, I think bringing in Cincy's staff plus maybe keeping some of the proven good recruiters from Weis' staff would be great. Why would Kelly shake things up on a staff that went 12-0 this year?
