Some of Kelly's current staff will likely come with him to ND. The likliest candidates include

OL Coach: Jeff Quinn
Defensive Coordinator/ LB coach: Bob Diaco
QB Coach: Greg Forest
Strength Coach: Paul Longo

Therehas also been talk that some of Weis's staff may be retained lik
RB Coach Tony Alford
ST Coach: Brian Polian
DB Coach Corwin Brown
TE Coach Brian Parmalee

Parmalee andPowlus have also been rumored to be leaving with Ianello
Alford has been rumored to be going to Florida
Polian is also in talks to take over at Youngstown St

They need to get a big name for a defensive coordinator. Im sure the deal did not include the defensive coordinator of UC. In addition, I hope to god they get a great strength coach in there with a proven philosophy of training. Cause I dont want another fat ass coach thinking he knows what he is doing with an english degree.

Also, I hope they go out and get the best like saban did. If not It will be Kelly's first huge mistake, and we all know nd wont have that shit. Lets keeps the ball rollin by leaving cincy crew in cinci, and lets go get the best support group.

i have read alot of good things about Longo. The Rivals staff feels pretty confident that Alford, Corwin, and Polian will be kept.

I agree on the DC. Kelly better go out and get someone in there to teach fundamentals and schemes because Cinci's defense left alot to be desired

Don't be surprised to see Grand Valley State coach Chuck Martin come in as Kelly's DC.

I find it hard to believe someone would leave a program they are the head coach at to be a DC.... Not against it but we'll i guess.

i have read that too. a DC with no d1 coaching experience does not sound very appealing

Agreed. But, apparently Kelly tried to get him to go to Cincy with him though and he has always spoken highly of him.

I'm sorry but I don't see the huge difference in being Head Coach at DII and DC at DI. It is more responsibility to be a Head Coach no matter where it is at.

Its a different animal all together. Better coaches, better talent, better offenses.

Been reading that the administration really wanted to keep Ianello but he wants to be a HC. Bryant Young was a grad assistant so he might stick around as well.

I disagree that it is better coaches Jason, you have to start somewhere, there are guys like Chuck Martin and Mel Tjeerdsma I think they could become Coordinators no problem.

I agree the players have better talent.

But I digress, that's not what the thread is about.

I would love to have Chuck Martin.

I hope the Alford and Polian rumors of staying are true.

This is from footballcoachscoop.com

They're either dead on or way off lol but here is what they said about Kelly bringing his staff with him.

Notre Dame:
Our sources have confirmed that Brian Kelly has asked Jeff Quinn (Offensive Coordinator/Offensvie Line), Bob Diaco (Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers Coach), Mike Elston (Defensive Line Coach), Greg Forest (Quarterbacks Coach) and Paul Longo (Strength and Conditioning coach) to join his staff. We have also been told that Kelly is possibly going to keep Tony Alford (Running Backs Coach), Corwin Brown (Defensive Backs Coach) and Brian Polian
(Special Teams Coordinator).

I hope that this does happen. All (3) of these would be good recruiters to keep on board.

I would love to see Chuck Martin for DC, a Southside Irish. All he has done is win. Remember where Sweater Vest come from?

I know it would be the longest of all long shots but I would love to see Kelly show that he has the largest set of Brass Balls in the country and give a phone call to Will Muschamp. Probably wouldn't happen but I can dream can't I? How awesome would that be?

LOL......BK should NOT just go out and hire a 'name' D Coordinator......

What he should do is go out and hire a guy he is comfortable with, a guy who runs the type of defense he wants, a guy who he can trust and a guy who compliments him and the rest of the staff.

Have we not seen what happens when you just throw a name at a job (see Tenuta) he needs to find the guy that fits what he wants to do......WHO CARES if his name is Muschamp or Stoops, etc etc.......he has to be the right guy, not just a name. There are plenty of guys you nor I have ever heard of who can coach defense with the best of them......they just need a shot!

Well we need a guy who knows what he can and can't do with the guys that he has. While Tenuta's scheme is a great idea, we didn't have the defense that could get to the QB fast enough even when we blitzed which seemed lke about 80 percent of the time, and you can't leave the field that wide open and still not get pressure on the QB.

Yes yes yes, Tenuta did a terrible job of adapting to his players. He tried to force them to adapt to him. Herbie said it well last night that Kelly adapts to his team using Pike and Collaros as the example. He made the necessary changes for different style QB's and they really never missed a beat. Keep that mentality for the whole team and I like it. I LOVE the potential we have with Filer, Fleming, etc...

i know his defense wasnt great last year but i am pumped that he is bringing his 5 linebacker defense(3-5-3 or 3-3-5) with him. i believe thats the best d for notre dame considering we cant recruit 3 technique tackles(cause they are too stupid to get in)! i think nd has a lot of good young linebackers to get on the field especialy if we can keep teo from going on his mission!

Cincy runs a 3-3-5? Damn. News to me, I've only really seen highlights of the offense this year. Not to get way off topic here, but is it more of a 3-3-5 with 3 LB's and 2 SS's?

I think that Grand Valleys HC would be an awesome DC for us. He and Coach Kelly have worked well together in the past and accomplished something special in 2 NC's. I know that a lot of you big time folks will say it is only DII, but there are not a whole lot of DII coaches with rings. Look at the history, when one team gets on a roll they win a couple and come back in a few years to compete for another. Not every DII school gets to have NC, just because they signed up and paid their dues. I coach myself, and no, I am not important and my high school job is not the pinnacle of coaching, but coaching is coaching! If you are comfortable with your staff and you can work together in the office, it translates well on the field. "TEAM over me" is not just a saying for players, if coaches can check their ego at the door and work together in the meetings, taking criticism and suggestions for the improvement of the team, then IMO we will be back on top.

Hey, there's nothing wrong with giving it a shot, the worst that can happen is Muschamp says no. But the only thing is, why would Muschamp leave Texas when he has that head-coach-in-waiting deal in place? If all goes well with Kelly, Mack should be retiring far sooner than Brian.

I just hope he goes out and finds someone who can build a system on defense. Don't just go out and get a mix-mosh of coaches that don't mesh because they all have great resumes. Mercedes, BMW, & Lexus all make great cars, but you can't build a single car worth anything using a 1/3 of the parts from each. I'd be very happy, for example, if he got someone like Kirby Smart from 'bama, and then for the most part let him decide who his position coaches will be.

I have heard rumors that FSU wanted to bring in Stoops as the DC. Maybe we can snag him, having him would be insane.

That's correct. Matt Stoops, or Mike Stoops, something like that, forgot the guys name. Not Bob, obviously, nor his brother at Arizona.
