My son is 8 years old, and of course he's subjected to watching me worship at the altar of Fightin' Irish Football.

This past season was his first in football, as he played in a flag league for the little guys. He's a fairly decent athlete - not the best on his team - but he was named the quarterback because he has a good head for remembering and executing the plays.

After the season was over, I made myself a little highlight reel that I keep on my desktop. I've never really shown it to anyone except immediate family because it's something I wanted to have for myself.

Recently, however, I thought it'd be fun to put it in a package with a cover letter and his second grade report card and send it to Early Admissions at Notre Dame. I think it's funny, but my wife just keeps pointing out that I'm disturbed... Anyone who saw my meltdown after the '05 game against USC would certainly agree.

Anyway, seeing as how you guys are the only ones I know who truly appreciate what it is to live and die with the Irish, I put the video on some of my webspace, and if you'd like, you can check it out. It's at:

It's about 7 Megs in size, so a broadband connection will zip through it. If you're on dial-up, it's probably better to right-click and "save as". - My son is #0 in maroon. :)

A few notes. He looks pretty good, but he kinda has happy feet in the pocket. He stares down his primary receiver WAY too long, and he should learn the playbook better. That said, the OLine looked way better than NDs last season!

Seriously, good video, I like the music! lol

Thanks, guys! :)

'That said, the OLine looked way better than NDs last season!'

The funny thing is, because this was the kids' first year, they had a rule that the coach on the defensive side would call out a "5 Apple" count before his kids can rush the quarterback. More than once last season, I watched this count and wished so hard we could somehow institute it when our Irish had the ball.

I love the mental picture of Pete Carroll frantically shouting out "1 Apple... 2 Apple... 3 Apple..." as JC casually picks which open receiver he'll throw to.

A lefty QB ... that's cool! He needs to learn to shed the blocks a little better on D if he's going to play as an Irish LB! :) Nice video!

Don't worry Curtis you weren't the only one that melted down during the 05 USC game. I was holding both sides of the tv screaming, shaking and almost crying. My wife thought I had lost it. Thankfully, Her and I were the only ones there.

By the way maybe your kid will be a future domer, I'm hoping for the same for my son!

LOL I too had a similar meltdown. Unfortunately for me, mine happened in the middle of the Sportsbook at The Mirage in Las Vegas.

LMAO. He's definately a bouncer. :) He may not get a look from ND just based on the color of the Uni's. ;)

That's awesome dude. Those are the types of things that we live for as parents. Good job young man!!!

LMAO! If you had an episode like that in the middle of the Mirage I bet you got a lot of stares!!

LOL...I'm sure it's something they're used to out there. That day was awesome though. That particular sportsbook is pretty big, and it was STUFFED TO THE GILLS with USC fans with about 15-17 Irish fans all huddled together. It about turned into a fight by the end of the game. ;)
