So, to close the loop on your initial position that things were better 100 years ago was false?

Yes or no.
Incorrect. My initial position wasn't "everything was better 100 years ago." It was the Dems are desperate to turn Texas blue via lack of immigration enforcement at the border.

I'm gonna vortex the vortex. It depends on how you define better. What's better today versus 100 years ago relative to US immigration? The ability to use technology at our borders, ability to perform background checks, ability to see if someone is carrying a disease or has certain vaccines, and cooperation with other nations/ intel agencies to track suspected criminals/terrorists trying to enter our country.

What was better 100 years ago? There weren't hundreds of criminal entities trying to smuggle drugs and people into the US, everyone who came through was on the books, we didn't have to worry about foreign spies infiltrating the US (pre WWII), and most people went right to work because they came here with pennies and they had to.

Comparing late 1800's/ early 1900's immigration to the stuff we've seen at our border over the past few years is disingenuous, and you're smart enough to know that.

Further, the people who left Europe on big ships for New York went through a legal immigration process.

You said that they went through a legal immigration process. So, presumably you thought that process was good? I'm wondering what the government can do to adopt that policy that you liked from 100 years ago.

Further, what data are you basing the "most people went right to work" which reads to me that people who come today don't work at the same rates. I would like to know how you're arriving there, because I can't find any reliable data on illegal immigrant specific employment data. I can only find foreign born data which includes legal and illegal immigrants.

I'd go with "everything was better 100 years ago." It has more toes on the ground than your theory on Texas.

Immigrants going through the steps of a legal immigration process is better than no process/ no enforcement that we've seen in the past few years. I believe the number of illegals who have come in (regardless of how) is 7 million since Biden took office.

In your limited research, did you come across any safety nets, social programs, or anything close in the early 1900's to what the US has today? Did you see any prepaid debit card programs for migrants, which is being proposed now by NY's mayor at the cost of taxpayers? The answer is no.

My data is the reality of the first few decades of the 1900's. Minimal schooling beyond elementary, no social programs, no subsidies, grade school kids working in factories, etc. Most arrived with nothing, so they did everything and anything for work to get by.

Any information you request on this topic after this post will come with a fee. I know US history well but done teaching you for free.

So you are saying that you would take the process from 100 years ago over what the current process is?

We've already been down the path of immigrants both legal and illegal put in more than they take from the "system". So I'm not sure why you're going down this path.

Your data is just vibez based, so literally just formed from opinion pieces then? For someone who feels so strongly about this you really don't have anything to support your position other than "My feelingz are saying so".

So just so we're clear since you don't want to continue this

1) You would like to have a system similar to the early 1900's where there was little to no control over the process.
2) You acknowledge that legal/illegal immigrants contribute more than they take from the government. You do not want to produce anything to support this position because it's purely based in emotions.
3) You would like to brand each person seeking asylum etc. as just getting hand outs from the government despite available data saying otherwise because you basing this off purely anecdotal feelings.

Great job as always! Look forward to hearing more from your vibez based approach to macro issues.

Remember when the left cried about defense spending, then took control of the government, and now we spend more money on illegals than the Army? We spend more on interest on the national debt than defense.

The cost of providing education, healthcare, law enforcement and other expenditure resulting from millions of extra migrants adds up to as much as $451 billion a year, says the House study.

The 49-page report comes as House Republicans push to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for allegedly failing to constrain the record numbers of migrants arriving at the US-Mexico border.

That figure is only partially offset by the $31 billion in taxes that are collected by the estimated 15.5 million non-legal aliens living in the US,

Imagine what that number would be if they were processed through the program?

No produce or invasive species was a good idea 100 years ago. I wonder if they still check.

I also wonder if they bother to screen for TB anymore.

No vibes or emotions. Just historical accuracy and comparison from 100 years ago to now, which you choose to ignore. And of your 3 bulleted points, you've reached those conclusions on your own and don't reflect my position. All you've done is dismissed historical facts, current realities of our border problems, and spoken for me.

The vortex spins on.

@TorontoGold as an accountant how do these vibes add up for any nation?

Historical facts implies there's something to support that fact. You haven't provided any support for this.

Why you can't or are unwilling to even provide anything to support your position is further proof that you're only concerned about the emotional aspect.

Quite literally just asking for you to point out which laws from 100 years ago you want Biden to do since it was so effective in your opinion. You also refuse to provide any figures that show immigrants taking more than they provide to the economy.

For there to be a "vortex" you need to provide anything but just tears.

You want me to read that, and you can't even pull anything to support your position? Am I reading this correct? For someone who thinks immigrants just want handouts, you keep asking everyone to do everything for you.

Hard to prove immigrants are just here for handouts. Easy to prove that they keep getting handouts and keep showing up. The logical connection is yours to make.

Every question you gave me, I had an answer for. I said multiple times that the Biden admin isn't enforcing our current immigration law and that is unsustainable. You choose to dismiss or ignore that, and same with asylum seekers. If you don't agree, I don't really care. My position has nothing to do with vibes or emotions.

No one needs charts and graphs to know that 100 years ago every immigrant went through the same process when they got here, that there were no safety nets, no social programs, no prepaid debit cards, etc.

Maybe we require immigrants to serve in the armed forces or some government program that supports society when they first come in.

Gonna be a tough ask with them busy trafficking, gang banging, spying and voting in all the elections for only one party.

When your answer is "dude trust me" that doesn't count lol.

Your position is purely vibes and emotions. I

That same process....which is so incredibly hard to define because you have yet to state what exactly you liked about it. "uhhhh it was good! trust me! uhhhh I just know it is!"

Your choice to completely ignore historical facts is on you, not me. I'm not the pupil and you sure as hell aren't the professor. You asked questions, I gave answers. You don't like em? Go pound sand lol I don't care.

I also wouldn't need to provide articles, studies graphs or charts to be correct in saying that soldiers slept outside in freezing temps during the battle of the bulge, or that the Russians raped and pillaged when they reached Berlin in spring of 1945, or that water is wet.

So you wrote all that and still couldn’t name one thing that was done correctly back in the day when immigration was on the up and up.

It’s so sad, you used to at least have the ability to explain why you liked something.

I said 100 years ago everyone who wanted US citizenship got in line, went through the process, got on the books, and began a new life. Compare that with what's going on recently and there's your answer. The fact that you'd rather disagree with me than accept reality is on you, not me.

One of the most prominent Russiagate hoaxers and former Chinese spy lover Swallwell is knocking it out-
Eric Swalwell, a 49ers super fan who has faced financial struggles, tapped campaign warchest to attend Super Bowl

His campaign paid $21k to 49ers for "event tickets."

And he paid $560 for *babysitters* the day after the big game.
