You confuse me. Just because an offense lines up in a tight double slot and runs option out of it (like Navy did this year - give or take) does not mean it's not an option offense. Maybe I don't watch enough Fla offense, but it seems to me the Fla offense is the same stuff WV runs, and high school teams have run since the early nineties. The formation is not the point, or whether or not the ball is run or passed. The point is that the QB decides - on the spot,( based on well practiced sight adjusting) on whether to keep, hand off, or pass, or just carry out the fakes and pass at certain receiver, who may also be running sight adjustment pattern. Of course predetermined play could be called as well.
Wing T when well done is a beautiful thing to watch. Watch replays of Grambling St. in their prime. Not an option offense though, but I was involved with an offense that ran option out of wing T look. Consider it a wishbone with the halfbacks in a wing position, or double wing, or double slot. Looked a lot like this year's Navy team. We did it 10 years ago.
I watched film of a high school team who won st. champ. running 4 plays: counter trey rt, counter trey lt, inside trap, and fade (with sight adjustment - if WR tightly covered, then QB tosses behind and outside so it resembles a comeback pattern. Etc... I could go on)
CWs offense has no misdirection, no counters, no reverses, no quick hits, no safety valves, no creative line pass blocking schemes, Oline has ZERO footwork. Puts the O at a disadvantage.
