Ohio State or Michigan

Which do you feel would would help out Irish more. I personally feel a huge victory by Michigan would be the best outcome. I utterly despise both teams but it would make the loss to Michigan for us look better and may support us moving up in the polls. If all Big East teams have one loss Rutgers beats Lousiville and WVU beats Rutgers or even pitt could upset one of these teams and SEC teams beat each other up and ND wins out I think they can make the NC with a Michigan convincing win over Ohio State.

Well, Michigan is our only common opponent. If they lose, it'll hurt us in the computer computations. We need all of our opponents to win on a weekly basis to keep our SOS high.

Yeah, we want UM to beat the snot out of OSU. Because here is what would happen...

Let's say OSU loses 47-21 :p...

Now people say a few things....

1. Troy Smith isn't God, he made a lot of mistakes in a simlar fashion to Quinn in that game. At the same time, Quinn has a really good game against USC, Quinn wins the heisman because of when the games were played :)
2. OSU isn't God, they played well all season, but were outmatched by UM. All the OSU bandwagon fans go away. They stop talking about the Fiesta Bowl for a few seconds.
3. UM is the easy No.1 and almost a lock to win the NC if they face Louisville. That at least makes ND's one loss on par with OSU's one loss... Hopefully, the only other good comparison would be that ND beat USC, and OSU beat UT. We would be pretty close to them in rankings.

Sounds pretty nice to me. And still an extreme longshot is if Louisville gets beat by Rutgers, and the SEC teams just start nocking each other off, ND beats USC who still has only lost one-game. And then we are sitting in the top 5, with an outside shot at a rematch against UM (it will realistically never happen though).

Best outcome for ND in MANY ways would be for UM to utterly annihilate OSU. 30-0.

That would kill Troy Smith's hopes of Heisman and basically hand it to Quinn. It would make our SoS better. And it would secure us a BCS spot with no doubt.

Go Wolverines!!! (god, I said that didn't I? Well Zibby said the same thing in B&G...hahaha)

If this team ends up in the National Title game, the next five weekends would have to be the wackiest in the history of college football.

I'm not sure we can truly grasp just how much would have to fall into place for that to occur. The loser of that tOSU-scUM game isn't going to drop far. If they do, a one loss SEC champ or one loss Texas leaps them. A one loss ND would have to stand alone amongst Boise State and a ton of 2 loss teams.

ND needs to win out first.

I will never cheer for Michigan, so help me Touchdown Jesus.

Not even if they were playing the Urban Myths for the NC?

I'd have to take Florida in that one.

I'll be pulling for UM over OSU, but it will be like that mountain climber that had to cut off his own arm to escape from being trapped between two boulders.

I root against Ohio St. because I live with the people in that video. That wasn't extreme. That is Ohio St. fan summed up in a few minutes of footage.

I think Texas will stumble against A&M or in Conference championship game I wasn't too impressed with the three games I have seen them play OSU, Nebraska, and last weekend vs. Tech which they should have lost...Tech had the ball twice in the fourth Quarter on the 20 going in and got stopped twice on 4th and less than 1. I still think although it seems improbable the Irish have a legit chance to end up in the NC. with a ND michigan rematch We do need a lot of help though.....ofcourse I will settle for winning out and winning any BC bowl this year.

Whatever helps ND, I am for, no mater how much it pains me to root for USC or scUM. I have plenty of toothpaste and mouthwash afterwards to recover from it.

I'm in favor of OSU winning a barn burner of around 6-3 or 9-6. All Pittman all the time, with Smith throwing around 2 ints, well maybe more like 5.

Well don't worry. After our shameful performance today, we'll be going into Columbus as 14 point underdogs.

The only silver lining I can see: it's a good thing we didn't cough up this hairball next week on the road. Indiana's better than BS and playing well lately.

Hopefully it's out of our system.

I think it's funny that Nd now wants Michigan to win. I know, you don't want us to lose a close game to OSU, becuase then it would be hard to vault Nd ahead of a team that smashed them earlier on in the year.

Reality check time: Louisville will be in the title game. I don't like it. The Big East is not a strong conference and Louisville really hasn't played anyone, outside of a badly declined Miami team and an overrated West Virginia team.
But they'll lose to Rutgers, you say. Not gonna happen. Literally the first words uttered out of the mouths of Petrino and his best players were that they wanted to focus on Rutgers, right after their win against West Virginia. They'll be ready, and there will not be a letdown. Not that it matters. Louisville beat Rutgers 56-5 last year. The Rutgers defense hasn't changed, and if you don't have a strength to stand on, Louisville will rip you apart. And of course, Pitt will fold under the pressure, just like Wannstadt.

Another thing that hasn't changed is Nd's defense. North Carolina scored more points against Nd than they did against every other opponent they've played so far except DII Furman, and that was after their coach was fired and they couldn't beat Wake in the follow up game. Think Manningham is bad. Wait for more refined versions of Manningham in Steve Smith and Dwayne Jarret. And don't expect USC to commit 4 turnovers at home. And don't expect USC to lose two straight games at home, assuming they lose to Cal.

Besides, the Florida/Auburn winner will probably be the best one loss team anyways. Florida isn't losing to FSU (a team whose offense stalls against good teams) and Auburn certainty isn't losing to punchless Georgia and Alabama.

I second that.

Ditto on USC.

Florida ain't all that, boys and girls. Sorry, but I'm not drinking the Gator Kool Aid any time soon.

That Tennessee-LSU game is proof that the SEC is just a taaaaaaad overrated.

I'm off the Fla thing also, and the SEC. I am now under the impression that ND could hang with any of the teams from the SEC. If Arkansas is their loan undeafeted conference team, I think we could take any team from that conference. I was totally wrong about being nervous to face a team like Fla in a bowl game.
