I am going to take some heat for asking this question since it has been asked so many times already but here it goes anyway. Why has it been so difficult to improve the offensive line. I do not understand but it must be so much more complicated than I can ever imagine. There has been very little success at a running game, and I would have thought it would have been a top priority during the off season. Please don't tell me that it is a work in progress and to just be patient. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Please don't beat up on me.
The offensive line has been playing much better, both in comparison to last year, and in looking at the week to week progress, this year. ND's running game has not been great, by any stretch of the imagination, but you can see the holes getting bigger each week. This is why you have to actually
watch the games, instead of just looking at the box scores, like most of the ND haters do. The bottom line is that the running woes are not all on the O line. The backs are not exactly the studs they were supposed to be, coming into ND. I would love nothing more than to see ND running the ball with the same success that they had in the Holtz years. But the game has changed, from almost 20 years ago. I'm not going to tell you that it is a work in progress, but I will tell you that they are just a couple of pieces away from having a very good running game. They will not have the same running game as your father's ND, though, in Weis' tenure. Weis likes to throw the ball too much. Which is fine with me, as long as they win.
