Gipper, I hear you, but I don't buy the argument. White has been dumbing down the schedules since he got here. This year, the Bball team didn't play ANY Big Ten competition in the pre-confeence, and nothing with UCLA, either. No Iniana, no Purdue, no MSU, and, even though they stink now, no Michigan. These games would be BUS RIDES, and none of them happened. I know a little something about college athletes, and their psyhcology. NO real quality recruit wants to hear that he'll spend half the season squaring off with Long Island, Monmouth, Colgate and IUPUI.

Another thing. ND football plays Stanford allthe time, and Stanford is seldom a .500 team in football. WHY CAN'T WE GET A BBALL GAME WITH THEM ? They're usually pretty good on the hardcourt.

Well, they played in the Paradise Jam this year, the preseason NIT last year, and Texas and Maryland a few years ago in a different Tourney plus I'd imagine they'll be part of the Big East SEC challenge when that starts up given that they're one of the better teams in the conference right now, and they palyed Alabama when they were ranked #5 last year as part of their non conference schedule.

Part of the problem is that they play in a very hard conference that has way too many teams and thus forces you to have an unbalenced schedule.

So, ND lost to UL by five, with a late charge. Where does this leave ND going into the last week of the season? Do they hold onto to a 4 seed? Slip to a 5? Wille they hold onto a top 4 slot, and a bye, in the Big East?

Personally, I thinkND was lucky that UL couldn't shoot free throws to save their lo save their lives. This one was getting pretty ugly, and would have stayed ugly, had UL sunk some free throws from 10:00 down to 5:00.

I think if we win out and win a few in the Big East Tourney we will stay a 4 seed. If we lose a game and one in the Big East Tourney we will drop to a 5 seed maybe 6. I like how we didnt give up at least. We kept battling.

I expect them to win out in the regular season, even though they have DePaul on the road. That will secure them a top four berth in the Conference, and a bye game. I'm just guessing, but I expect that means they'll be a 5 seed in the Big Dance going into the Big East Tournament. They'll have a maximum of 3 games to play there. If they win all three, they'll probably be a 3 seed. 2 wins, I think, leaves them a 4 seed. One win, a 5. If they lose their first game, I say they'll be a 6. Sound about right?

And they DID keep battling, but they gave up too many turnovers down the strecth.

They look like a TOTALLY different team on the road!!! I think they win out the regular season, have an early exit in the Big East Tourny, and fall to a 6 seed. We will start winning road games against good teams next year and will be a GREAT team!!!

I think you gus are getting too reactionary here just as many did during football season. As long as Pagent stays healthy Louisville is a very solid team and will probably end up as a #2 seed and they have a good cahnce to reach the Elite 8 or even the Final Four if they get good match-ups. ND endup playing them very tough on the road when the game started out as a disaster and several of ND's best shooters all had a bad shooting night at the same time. Remember that Louisville was favoried by 8 and they were unable to cover the spread last night.

As long as ND wins the rest of the games they're supposed to I think they'll stay as a 4 seed, which would mean that would need to win out against DePaul, St. Johns and USF, and then pick up one victory in the quater finals of the Big East Tourney. Now depending on how others do around them they may have a chance to jump up to a 3 seed if they were to reach the championship or even win the Big East Tourney. However they may drop a line if they stumble once or twice down the stretch and others around them don't.

I watched a lot of college basketball this year...and I just do not see ND being a 3 seed no matter what happens around them....that would make them one of the top 12 teams in the country. If all the games were at ND I would say they are a 2 or 3 seed but they are not the same team on the road...I know no team is the same on the road but with them it is a lot more drastic!!!

at Marquette L 92-66 HOME W 86-83
at Georgetown L 84-65
at Connecticut L 84-78 HOME W 73-67
at Louisville L 90-85

Only big road win was against Nova 90-80

If they were to beat Marquette, and then 2 out of Georgetown, Louisville, and UConn in three days on a neutral court I think they would have a decent chance. The selection committee heavily ways those late season neutral court games as well as your RPI and all of those games would greatly help ND's RPI which happens to already be pretty good.

Personally I think they'll end up as a 4 seed.

As long as they bounce back against Depaul I would guess a 4 seed

The truth is it doesn't matter as long as they don't drop to #7. At 3, 4, 5, or 6, you have a fairly confortable advantage in Round 1, and a close game in round Two, if the brackets hold. 3 plays 6 (a three seed disparity), 4 plays 5. See?

However, 7 gets #2 in round 2, IF 7 beats 10 in Round One. 8 and 9 get #1.

So, basically, as long as ND stays in the 3 to 6 range, they have, on paper, a fair chance to get to the Sweet Sixteen. At least they won't be in any huge mismatches.

I guess they bounced back so I say they end up a 4 seed in the big dance. It is a lot more fun trying to figure out which seed they will get in the big dance rather than wonder if they are going to make the big dance!! :bbanana:

does anyone know what the tiebreaker will be with uconn? if both teams finish at 14-4, who gets the #3 seed? the teams split the regular season. this is important for those of us who have to work. the 4th seed plays thursday at 2pm, while the 3rd seed plays thursday at 9. selfish reasons to be the 3rd, haha. plus we would probably avoid playing marquette in our first game

alright guys, we've got everyone's cinderella from 2 years ago in george mason in round 1. I kind of like this matchup. they will not run up and down the floor like marquette did, or like winthrop did last year. they average a little under 70 a game and go 7 or 8 deep. because of what they did 2 years ago they wont sneak up on anyone. i like the first 2 rounds for nd based simply on matchups. we struggle with really athletic teams but unless 13th seeded winthrop upstes wash st, we wont see that type of team in either of the first 2 rounds. thoughts???

I think we can get to the Sweet 16 pretty easily, but wont be able to go beyond that unless UNC loses against Indiana/Arkansas. And does anyone know what time that the game is at on Thursday?

I'd love to see ND vs UNC in the sweet 16. Harangody vs Hansborough would be fun to watch and would be a battle. I think we'd have some trouble defending their guards though. I do think that we could beat them if we played at the top of our game. aif we play like we did against Marquette in the Big East tourney, we will be lucky to get past George Mason.

does anyone understand how the bracketry works? USC and Cal State Fullerton are in the midwest while Georgia is in the west? yet the games in all regions are played in locations outside the region?

i think the region really only applies for the regional final for the most part. the east is in charlotte, midwest in detroit, south in houston, west in phoenix. it doesnt make alot of sense but thats the only thing i can figure out
