Irish coach Weis gets Notre Dame in on charity
April 15, 2005
CBS SportsLine.com wire reports

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A charity started by coach Charlie Weis and his wife, Maura, is partnering with Forever Collectibles to create gold silicon Notre Dame bracelets that will be sold as part of a fund-raising effort.

Weis, his coaching staff and the Fighting Irish honorary coaches -- Joe Montana, Joe Theismann, Chris Zorich and Tim Brown -- will all wear the bracelets during Notre Dame's April 23 spring football game.

The Weis family founded its charity, Hannah and Friends, in 2003 after their daughter, Hannah, was diagnosed with autism. The foundation hopes to raise enough money to build a farm in South Carolina that will feature a petting zoo and riding program. It also hopes to have enough money to pay for farm operations.

A portion of the bracelet sale proceeds also will go to LOGAN, a South Bend-based regional autism center that provides services to more than 1,000 people.

The Notre Dame-licensed bracelets will sell for $2 starting April 23, and will be available at all Hammes Bookstores in South Bend, as well as online at www.HannahandFriends.org or by calling 1-800-532-3713.
