Here was my Game Day ritual this time (I usually do some variation of this):
1. Get to campus early (I got there at 7:30 AM) parked over by library and strolled through North Quad to the Student Center.
2. Picked up a cup of coffee from Starbucks and watched the early risers get everything set up.
3. Proceed over to bookstore (it opens at 8 AM game day) but only if I need to do shopping - it was easy in and out at that time.
4. Then met buddy at South Dining Hall and eat breakfast with the students. Pretty good eats - I think it was $10.
5. Read Observer -get band schedule, etc.
6. Walk left out of the Dining Hall towards Rockne Memorial and through Lyons Arch.
7. I lived out at Holy Cross Hall (no longer there) so I always go around the lake - a beautiful view of campus from the hill over there. (When I don't have time for that, go across toward architecture building past the log chapel - there is an interesting plaque with a letter from Fr. Sorin explaining how he came to chose the site of the campus).
8. The path from the other side of the lake leads up towards the Grotto. (If go across towards log chapel, the Grotto will be down and to the left, i.e., a little north and east)
9. Say your game day prayer and light a candle.
10. Walk up the back stairs of the Grotto and through the Basicalla - there is a nice museum of religious items in the back.
11. Through the church and to your right is Corby hall and fair catch Corby - also an interesting plaque regarding Fr.Corby's involvement in the Civil War.
12. Back to the left past Walsh hall wonder around through the Main Quad and up to the library to catch a glimpse of We are # 1 Moses -on the side of the librabry facing the war memorial - then towards the stadium/ACC (this is were game day was set up).
13. Go over to the ACC to the second floor hallway between the hockey and the basketball court and see memorabilia of all sports (except football, I think).
14. The Gug now has the heismans and most other major football stuff, I think- did not get a chance to see it this time.
15. From there walk towards the Morris Inn - good place hang out pre-game if you do not have a pre-arranged tailgate.
16. To the tailgates - I was with friends out near Senior Bar and just East of Juniper almost to Angela.
17. Beer.
18. Then back to campus about 1.5 hours before game to see band step off.
19. Into the stadium.
