ND vs. UNC

It will take more than that to beat UNC. For one, they need to hit free throws. I thought that I was watching a ND football "4th qtr.melt down" last night over the last 1 1/2 minutes. Damn, I thought that they couldn't buy a free throw down the end!

Even if we dont win this game I hope at least that we can compete or keep it close. If we can nail the 3 ball and hit our free throws we can win this game. Harangody MUST step up and not shy down from Hansbrough (however you spell it) My gut is telling me UNC 78 Notre Dame 66.

I think the Harangody vs Hansbrough match up will be overshadowed by ND not being able to stop UNC guards both in transition and penetration in the lane.
If I were UNC I would drive, drive, drive early. I'd also feed Hansbrough early to try and get Harangody in foul trouble.
If I'm ND, you have to have Harangody front Hansbrough and get weakside help. Very few can handle that stud one on one. Only problem there is UNC has so many weapons on the perimiter.
I'm hoping McAlarney has a solid game and anxious to see if Jackson continues his hot streak

I think it is important to be competitive. But at the same time, we have nothing to lose. If UNC blows us out I think it is more a statement of how good they are than an indictment of us.

Make UNC a jumpshooting team and keep Tyler off the boards. UNC is so much more athletic than ND that it will be hard to do those things. But UNC is not nearly as good when they can't run their secondary break. It can be done, but it's gonna be extremely difficult.
Even worse, ND just played their 2nd game in a row, and it was a nailbiter. Now they have to play their 3rd straight game against a team that LOVES to run. Hopefully the boys will be ready, and have enough gas in the tank to keep it close til late, when anything can happen...

I wish we had a 7 foot Center so that Harangody could move to the 4 spot. I love this Irish team though.

I think it will be fun to watch Gody and Hansburgho (or however you spell it too layz to look it up) bang it out underneath. Just least to God do not try to run with them. Thats what they are best at is a fast, up and down the court game.

Not a good start for us. We look nervous and intimidated. Taking too many chances on offense and defense instead of playing our game.

102-87 final. We fought until the final buzzer, but UNC is #1 for a reason. They are clearly the best team in the country. I thought it said alot about us how hard we fought.
KMAC broke his own school record for 3's in a game. He had 10, and finished with 39 points.

Great game. We couldn't slow them down and we could not stop Hansborough (who can?). Overall, the tournament was a complete success and we should stay in the top 8. I learned one thing about our team this week...our bench is terrible behind Zellar. Other than that, we have a solid team and for a couple of hours this week I forgot about ND football and focused on ND basketball. Go Irish!!!
our bench is disgusting. with Zellers being a senior, he made some bad decisions. Peoples...... Well, I think Coach Brey feels sorry for him thats why he is playing. Overall, I think the Irish will do better than 4th in the Big East....... North Carolina is an outstanding team and hold the number 1 ranking with my respect.

Lets keep a few things in perspective. First of all NC is coming off a 36-3 season and returns all 5 starters, and I thought we fought pretty hard.
Second of all, about our bench, I think they just had a bad game, but arent that bad. Nash can do some dirty work, he was just outmanned by UNC, plus remember this is his first solid game action. Zeller is usually a pretty solid player, had a rough go of it last night. And People's is a tremendous athlete, we just need to utilize him the right way. I hope he stops shooting jump shots.
But this tournament was a success, and I think it legitamized us as a top ten team.

in all actuality of this game ND was right there, always on the verge of a run but never fully making it. The shooting was cold in the first half, if ND could have turned up the shot percentage (which will happen in the coming months) they will be extremely dangerous. Even to the powerhouse that UNC is. As for me i would like to just personally add that I think Hansbrough is babied by the refs.. he is i think 9th all time in free throws made in the NCAA, hes 20th in free throws attempted. He goes to the line because he jumps and flails, the Refs blow the whistle and the announcers say " Well thats why they call him physco T ". Why? can we start sayin " Oh thats just Loopy Harangody" so he can go to the line more get more calls and not get anything called against him on defense, maybe if we ask him to look like a bug eyed idiot we can get more calls too. I hate Hansbrough.
