Brian Smith’s welcome commitment to ND last night ended a dismal 7 day period in ND recruiting since the Robert Hughes announcement. The other good news that comes with the commit of Brian is that the Irish now once again have 11 recruits in the ESPN 150, which ties them for the most on the list with Florida and Texas. As incredible as it may seem to some, 4 and possibly 5 (if Golden Tate ends up playing CB) of those 11 Top 150 recruits are part of the much maligned 2007 Defensive Recruiting Class.

Here is the List:

OFFENSE:
#9 Jimmy Clausen QB
#11 Golden Tate WR/RB/CB
#22 Greg Little WR
#36 Duval Kamara WR
#55 Mike Ragone TE
#85 Matt Romine OT
#140 Robert Hughes RB

DEFENSE:
#13 Gary Gray CB
#26 Kerry Neal DE
#120 Ian Williams DT
#150 Brian Smith ILB

Good! ND got what it needed out of the LB. Please stay away from bad influences such as the basketball and lacrosse teams (bad joke)

That's true. Clausen's #9 rank here is by far his lowest. He is #1 on 3 of the 5 boards, and #4 on Scout which also tends to be anti-Irish. On the other hand, ND recruits have their highest overall rating in the ESPN 150 board. The ESPN 150 board is really run by the Scouts, Inc. people, and I do not think they are influenced as much on a daily basis by the ESPN broadcasters' anti-Irish hooliganism.
