Typical of someone having an opinion based on listening to crap being spewed from people with an ax to grind. Show them the facts (thanks Legacy, SoCal and the rest of you) and they still stick to theirdogmatic opinion and think they are enlightened.

The best? UConn? Arizona State? You won't even play them home and home. Seriously, you guys used to take on all comers. Now it's just whoever will make you a buck.

You're right. We are playing our home game against ASU, in 2013, in Dallas. What's wrong with maximizing the revenues, as long as you don't significantly compromise the quality of the opponent?

Thanks, IG. Sometimes we all may operate without full facts. But IE members will let you know it.

College Football Data Warehouse, a great site for CFB statistics, even has specifically Strength of Schedule arranged by the decades for those interested.
Team Strength of Schedule Decade Rankings

If you change decades, then Click on "Sort by Schedule Points" which are awarded based on the quality of the opponent.
Notre Dame SOS through the decades:
2000s - 7th
1990s - 8th
1980s - 1st
1970s - 12th
1960s - 14th
1950s - 7th
1940s - 9th
1930s - 7th
1920s - 14th
One conference that has not scheduled "cupcakes" is the PAC 10. Of the top 11 schools in SOS during the 2000s, 9 are PAC 10 teams. The only other two in that mix are ND and FSU.

BTW Sagarin ranked Navy as 74th.

We need to play more games in recruiting hot beds such as Texas, Florida and Georgia. Period.

I've beat this dead horse on so many other threads its getting tiring. But yeah, get out of the Big East and head South where the good teams are. Show we can compete with top notch teams in the recruiting hotbeds and step up our game. Holy crap, what the hell do I wanna play UConn, Rutgers, or cincinnatti for? I want to play Florida, Georgia, Auburn, Tenn, UT, or Texas A&M.

Are you saying play them all in one season? If so, you need to schedule 6 more games for that season. Who would you schedule? That's why ND fills in its schedule with Rutgers, Navy, etc.

If ND played Florida, Goergia, Auburn, Tenn, Texas, Texas A&M, USC, and 5 other teams in a season, they would have at least 2-3 losses and would not likely make it to the NC with 2-3 losses, regardless of who they lost to. If ND played that schedule this year, they would have at least 5-6 losses, maybe more depending on who else you scheduled.

You guys who think we should play everyone in the top 10 every year are living in la-la land . No one does that. Not the SEC, not USC, no one. If you want to make it to the BCS NC game, you have to schedule good opponents, but then you have to beat them. You don't get credit for losing 3 games to the best teams.

There are also "some People" in la-la that think ND should win the NC every year...... It's not gonna hapeen every year. There is no reason why ND should not play 3 SEC, 3 Big-10,ACC, and Pac-10 teams every year. ohhhhhh... I see.... it's more exciting watching Nevada, SDSU, UCONN, and SYRACUSE. Thats fine to win those games and get to the BCS bowl game and get crushed!! Great way to prepare.... Please for the love of GOD.... Change our schedule......

Are you saying you don't want them to play for and win the NC every year? Why exactly does ND play football if it's not to win a NC every year???

EVERY TEAM IN EVERY SPORT HAS AS IT'S #1 GOAL TO WIN THE CHAMPIONSHIP IN IT'S SPORT. If you say you don't care whether they play for the NC every year, then you either have no integrity or are ignorant of sport or of college football.

Are you going to stop watching them when they play SDSU, Syracuse, and UConn? I didn't think so.

Lastly, you cannot blame the schedule for losing bowl games (i.e. because we didn't play enough good teams and therefore were not ready). It was poor coaching and poor recruiting since Holtz left that is the source of that.

Look at Boise State in 2006. what kind of schedule did they play? Did they not beat Oklahoma? They were simply outcoached and outplayed.

Well to start this off. I wanted them to win last year, the year before that, and the year before that.............. Do I need to go on..? Ok... Fine you got me......... ND will play for the NC this year. Better?..........Go ahead and put the tissue away....... If they play a decent season and win some great games,,,,, Yes I would be thrilled. As far as having no integrity or being ignorant... It's called being realistic and not a homer. Why talk abut Lou..? Are you stuck in the 80's and 90's still? We are in the Year 2008... Notre Dame is not the power house it once was. They are making a comeback or a "return to glory" but it's gonna take some time. Talking about being out coached...... Shoot.... Weis better change his game play..... During the season.... Ask any player what the number 1 goal is.... I'll bet you my right eye that they would say win the next game. Ask the Patriots.... They were more concerned about winning each week and not looking ahead.. Looking ahead could hurt the team. Same Thing with Weis, I recall watching his press-conferences and the reports would ask him about his "furture" schedule.... What did he say.... Exactlly, he didn't care about the furture schedule just the game that lied ahead of him... 1 week at a time.......

As far as not watching them when they play cupcake teams of course I will...... I want ND to earn the spot in the NC game by beating normal powerhouse teams. When you tailgate at the football games..... You can tell a diefference whether Rice is in town or Texas is right?

Ok, if you knew how to punctuate and seperate your thoughts rather than diahreaha of the mouth, i would attempt to have a discussion.

But your ignorance is on display in your inablitity to put forth a single, simple cogent argument.

No, I wasn't saying all of those in one season. But some of them, 1 or 2 in addition to MU, MSU, and USC. All of them would be nuts. Though, that shouldn't be the reason we wouldn't play ALL of them.

typical unintelligent response.

Playing better teams and winning............. what else can you ask for? ND is the reason why I am moving back to SB. Family tradition... Guess you know nothing about it. I am a realist... after a 3-9 season... there is no way they play for the NC.. sorry domers... lets not waterdown our schedule to play in a BCS game. Lets deserve it instead. Later SoCal.... Another thing ... don't get too butt hurt either...
