I know the first game hasn't even been played, but what are the general feelings about the Irish at Happy Valley this year? I honestly think it could be a great game and am certainly hoping it goes the Irish way. As a resident in a PsU infested area, I take a real beating each year from the way over zealous, if not jealous, PsU fans who can never be objective enough to discuss anything Notre Dame reasonably. Given the fact that the Irish have so many new faces this year, what do you all think about the possible outcome of this particular game? Happy Valley is tough on opponents, and no doubt Notre Dame arriving will give added incentive. But PsU is still pretty unproven to me with Morrelli at QB and not showing much leadership last year. PsU lost a lot of quality players to graduation as well and has Austin Scott now slated as the starting TB. PsU and JoePop-pop are always well-prepared. Who will be the better prepped team in this one?

I hope we perform well, but this is a game I have chalked up as an "L".

Their offense was beginning to click at the end of the year. Morelli developed confidence and poise the second half of the year...that makes him dangerous.

As an Ohio State fan, the BuckeyeNation knows quite well how tough it is to go to Happy Valley and escape with a WIN (see 2005). They pack the play and the crowd and especially the students will be into the game big time, with what was said earlier about the new faces, the key players lost from last season at key positions I just don't see Notre Dame winning the game. Crazier things have happened, but Penn State should be a tough team to beat, especially at home!

I saw that PSU-tOSU game...it was a sea of white. That place was louder than hell. It was an amazing atmosphere.

There's no way its a blowout. Maybe when PSU plays Florida International, Buffalo, Temple, or Nothwestern, but not against us. I'm not sold that PSU's offense is that good. Go Irish!

ND vs PSU

ND vs PSU

When all is said and done, Happy Valley will be Sad Valley. Don't underestimate the coaching ability of Charlie Weis: he knows how to prepare the team, both physically and mentally and the latter is 51% of the game. Go Irish.. ND by 10.

I really hate Penn St.

I DITTO that in a big way. Believe it or not, it was family members of mine who completely turned me off to PsU. They talk as though PsU and JoePop-pop are infallible. Granted Paterno has been a model coach and has maintained strong principles, but even he used to get me ill with his mush-mouthed talk of how he didn't know whether his Lions could stop some of the offensive firepower of those weak little sisters they schedule each season. He always has talked as though the Bowling Greens, Akrons, Toledos, Cincinnatis, FIUs, Temples, etc. have some actual chance at playing with his teams. No need to be so phony about how weak some of those teams have been.

It amazes me that JoePop-pop is even playing ONE decent non league opponent this year. Usually all non leaguers are bottom feeders. Let's hope the one decent one they play this year bites the old man in the a$$.

Me too! But I really really REALLY hate scUM, O$U, U$C, Florida, Miami, F$U, plus anyone coached by Steve Whine-bag Spurrier and Urban the Crier.

I hate them too, but I hate Penn St. more than I hate child abuse (just kidding), but I really hate PSU and their fans.
