I don't ever see us joining a conference, and as long as we can still make the cash there's no reason to join one, I would hate to see us in a conference.

This might be blasphemous. But I wouldn't mind seeing ND in the SEC and possible the BIG 10. I liek the idea of a conference as long as the conference is strong. Weak conferences wouldn't destroy ND. And ND should retain the ability to pull out of the conference if the conference strenght did not meet ND standards. Just think, ND having to compete in a strong conference like the SEC would force it to play the top notch teams that are winning NC. It goes back to my lets make ND's schedule a little tougher argument.
If ND was in the SEC they would have to play LSU, Auburn, FLorida, Georgia, Arkansas, and Tenn. Maybe not in the same season. But we'd be playing them. In the BIG 10, they have MU, MSU, Penn St. Wisconsin, and OSU. Five teams that ND can play in one season and do well.

Then again, don't fix something if it isn't broken...

The day ND joins a conference is that day that the Administration is stating to the world "ND Football as we know it is DEAD."

SEC? Serious?

They have no reason as of right now to join a conference unless by some strange reason they are forced to by the powers of Grayskull. ND makes too much money as an independent and they would definately not join the SEC.

That screams elitist and that won't go over well with other schools.

Although I am not a fan of ND EVER joining a conference, I do know that if ND was in the SEC that they would sign the top 10 classes year in and year out.

yeah, it does. I realize it too. I'm a little bit of one though. Like I said, it will never happen. But I wouldn't THAT disappointed if it did. Like others have said, we'd have a top recruitment class year in and year out. We would turn into an elite team. It was just some food for thought.
