I quit watching after first half. Score was still close but you could see how it was trending. SCum is limited in scholarships but loaded w/ talent. They are not dominant but the athletes they have are impressive.

I got a feeling they are on the verge of getting back to the Pete Carroll days.

Not likely. They'll be competing for Pac-12 titles, and will most likely win the South more often than not. I think we're putting too much into their win over ND. It was a fluke, due to all the injuries/suspensions. Remember that they got eviscerated by UCLA the week before.

I'm putting more stock in the fact that every time someone makes a play tonight, you hear "True freshman..." before their name.

It's a 3 PT game with 7 mins left. May want to turn it back on.

Just remember this is the team that gave up over 400 rushing yards to Melvin Gordon. They'll be a threat, but ND has plenty of true freshman in the wings as well with lots of potential.

Nothing makes great teams like experience. While their freshman are getting experience playing in big games, ours are sitting. In a few years, USC will be loaded with upperclassmen who have been playing for 3 years.

Did I miss something? IIRC, we've been playing a crap ton of freshmen this year. So they're getting experience as well.

It's not to the extent that they do. 3 of their 5 OL are Freshman. That's crazy.

Also, this isn't about comparing ND to USC. Just cause they will be really good doesn't mean we won't be and vice versa.

Just wanted to make sure that was the case. Some guys here are starting to get flashbacks to the 8 straight losses to Pete Carroll. Juju and Jackson could be stars in the making, but it just shows you how easy it is to succeed when you have a guy like Agholor lined up next to you.

SC gets 5 stars. ND gets 3 stars thats the bottom line but I would take Kelly over Sark any day.

ND gets 3-stars, 4-stars and a couple 5-stars, but like you said, Kelly over Sark. He just needs time to develop them. 5-stars generally are ready to play from the day they walk on campus. USC has always gotten 5-star guys, so not much different. 3-stars and 4-stars generally need longer to develop and make an impact. We're seeing how 2011 and 2012's recruiting classes have fallen apart and it's directly affected this season. It's not athleticism that ND's lacking, but the talented rooks are not reacting quick enough and making mental errors. 1 or 2 mental errors is easy to cover up with experienced guys performing their assignments, but ND's are practically all over the place.

I remember saying this the year ND won the Hawaii bowl. The future was great, loaded young talent, etc etc. I won't take much stock in a 3 point win over a B1G team without a coach.

Edit: quoted wrong post, but the point still stands.
