My question is... how can you fix it now? Do you really expect the defense to change before the end of this season? This game further proved to me that ND just doesn't have the horses on defense. The one touchdown they scored on Zibby and the one they scored on Lambert were just terrible plays by our DB's. The players were in position to make the plays but they just didnt.. I don't know how you expect Weis to fix that. Other than those two plays, and that fluke kick return, UNC scores 7 points. It amazes me that people post things like this.. please watch the game before posting!
You can fix it now, but then you open up another hole in the defense. Teams have alot of trouble running the ball against ND, Why you ask? Because they play their safties up on the line of scrimmage to stop the run. You can play more cover 2 and have safety help, but our run support wont be as good. Also, we tackle very poorly. that can only be addressed with "live" tackling in practice, but then you run the risk of somone getting hurt. So it's hard to say what they should do. against USC they'd better help their corners or it's gonna be a longgggggggg day.

They were in position to prevent the kickoff return. They were in position to prevent the 2 second half TD's. All three were examples of whiffed tackles. There were about 5-6 missed tackles on that kickoff return. Lambert and Wooden got burned badly by Nicks. That's not scheming. That's the players not making the plays when they get an opportunity. Anyway, it's the same old sh*t after every game. Maybe we have to live with the fact that this is the way it's going to be until we get some more horses on defense. Now was I displeased Saturday? Very much so. However, I saw nothing that made me cuss the coaches. Players didn't make plays. We are a team that depends on our QB to win games for us. We just need our defense to allow less points than what our offense scores. That's who we are. Live with it and stop all the constant whining after every game. It's not going to change. We are a good team with a average Oline and a defense that is improving, but is still susceptible to the big play. There's nothing that Weis can do at this point. The Oline plays hard, but they are average. Quinn was getting sacked by North Carolina. UNC had like maybe 3 sacks all year. It was some ridiculously low number like that. We are who we are and we should take the wins as they come. It's not going to change now. It's too late in the season.
