The first bolded point is pointless. No one ever knows what's going to happen in a game but they are judged by how they respond to the events that unfold. JR fvcked up bigly in the final 5 seconds when he had a chance to help his team win (despite his awful shooting all night).
As to your 2nd bolded point, fine. If ND is tied in the waning seconds of a game and our secondary intercepts the ball and we have blocks set-up for a return, you can't be angry if the player just runs out of bounds as time expires because he thought we were already winning.
Assume we lose in OT as well. You have no right to complain about it because that INT was an unexpected gift.
I'd be pissed because of the situation that unfolded. But if that's the case and the team is essentially running the clock out with the lead in the final seconds, we were as good as beat up to that point.
The DB would have squandered a lucky opportunity, but hardly the reason we lost since the game was in hand anyway.
IF we're TIED - I'd still be happy the DB intercepted it, since it kept the other team from kicking a game winning field goal (or Durant/Curry from hitting a shot with 4.7 left).
We'd still be "lucky" he intercepted it if it was in fact a tie.
