Myron Rolle in ESPN

Good article in ESPN the Magazine on Rolle and how he's dealt with all the recruiting 'experts'. Doesn't say many nice things about internet based recruiting websites. Basically points out that have of the people writing on these websites have ridiculous agendas and no journalistic ethics/experience.

ND stuff: Listed his top 6 (?) and ND wasn't in there, also mentioned that Lemming was a big ND guy and bashed FSU.

Forget that chump...I am tired of hearing his prima donna name...I hope he goes somewhere and is a bust...I love Charlie Weis' approach of targeting kids who will value ND and what we stand for. There are plenty of other talented recruits out there i.e. Walls, Mcneil, etc.

These kids no a days get there head filled with "your the #1 recruit in the country" bullcrap that they walk around actually thinking that, and in reality, there is no possible way to even know that in this stage of there game, they are ALL still underdeveloped, That is why coaching plays a HUGE role in college football, because a so called 5* recruit can go any average or somewhat good football program, and if the coach is average, they will develop poorly...if a 4* recruit goes to a very well coached program, then his probability of becoming a great college football player is increased significantly.

From the SOUND of everything, Rolle seems to be a great athlete...but #1...lets decide that on the playing field with kids of equal competitive talent.

The article actually talks about fans getting pissed off when a recruit decides to go somewhere else. Essentially making it personal, when if fact the kid is going to do what he thinks is best for himself. FWIW he's a really bright kid.

Tom Lemming, one of the pioneers of the recruiting beat, has been in the business since 1979 … “Tom Lemming is a huge Notre Dame guy,” Myron says. “He kept saying to me, ‘You know they have a great coaching staff. You know Charlie Weis is Mr. NFL. You’re an academic guy. That place is for you.’ Then he killed Florida State. He said, ‘You’re stupid if you go there.’ Um, okay. Thanks.”

While what Lemming may or may not be saying is true, the fact is that he shouldn't be doing that. And if he is, someone needs to talk with him about it.....Kevin White, Charlie Weis, Rob Ianello....whomever.

I think any and all information about recruits should be taken with a grain of salt until he actually signs a LOI on signing day in February. I follow the recruiting beat very closely and it seems like most of the information that is out there is fabricated or flat out wrong in most cases.

There are some guys I would not want at Notre Dame, regardless of their talent. The last thing I want to see is some punk getting into a shouting match with a coach on the sidelines during a nationally televised game (Mo Clarett?). Certain people belong and certain people don't. That is what the official visits are designed to do.

If Rolle wants to go to Florida State, let him go there. They're probably offering more than ND is anyway....under the table.
