I really think we will play some freshman next year. One or two of the kickers that long snapper boy and tyler stockton primarily but I also think that cierre and evans have a good chance at getting playing time and chris watt feels good for playing time to me.

Will Yeatman is transferring and I do believe that Walker will make a strong push to get some playing time. I think he will take the starting job from Duval Kumara.

I'm guessing Sharpley will go the pro baseball route next year.

I've read a lot that says the same thing. He has no reason to return as everyone knows that Crist will be the backup next year. Montana will be 3rd string.

You think Montana will ever see a snap in an Irish uniform?

He will see it. I see it on TV all the time WHEN I DON'T FUCKING SLEEP THROUGH THE FUCKING GAME. I tell ya, me and God, we gonna go around again. Soon as my pulled muscles heal.

But I digress...

Can't believe jboxer562 has Allen second. Allen is friggen special. Dude is a amazing.

Cool post jboxer562

Thanks for the list. Some points of contention:
1. No way is Aldridge our #1 back next year. He hardly even played vs Hawaii! Surprisingly, Hughes was the starter and he played like I thought he would all year. Allen looked fantastic as a change-of-pace back. I have to disagree with you Neutered my man, Allen needs to break some tackles for me to annoint him. I've been saying that all year. With this line, you have to make people miss. However, he looked electric on several plays vs Hawaii, so Nuetered might be right.

2. I've read that Shwapp is gone. Hopefully he is. He's simply not good. Being a workout freak does not make you a good player. Missing countless blocks and fumbling the ball makes you a bad football player.

3. Unless Kamara has a complete change in work ethic and he becomes a better athlete that can hold onto the ball, one of those WR's will make a move on him. I'm guessing Goodman or Shaq.

4. By all accounts, McNeil was our best cover corner this year, and he's penciled in as a starter next year, even ahead of Walls. Yet he's 2nd to last on the depth chart? Typo?

5. And as stated, Yeatman is gone.

this isn't a depth chart... d-back, d-line, and o-line aren't positions... get your head out of your ass and give us a thread thats worth while if you're gonna make the effort to start a new thread...

I hope they use Ragone as an H-back, hes a play maker that needs to see the field as much as possible.

I agree with this post 100%. I would love to see Hughes playing in the fullback position for us next year. But you would have to utilize is abilities. It would be pointless to stick him in there and block all the time.

west/parris? are you kidding me? shaq evans will get time mark it down. also, goodman and walker will work their way in as well. kamara is going to need to see dr. mick franco in the offseason to right his mental ship. he has the tools physically but mentally needs to get the focus back and believe he is good enough to play at this level. i hate seeing a kid struggle with confidence.

Not that this would happen but this is what I would like to see.

QB
Clausen
Crist
Montana

RB
Aldridge
Gray
Wood

FB
Hughes
Paskorz

Wideout 1
Floyd
Walker

Wideout 2
Tate
Evans

Slot reciever
Allen
Goodman <----- not sure about this one.

Tight End
Ragone/ Rudolph

Right Tackle

Young

Right Guard
Robinson

Center

Cave

Left guard

Olsen/Stewart

Left Tackle
Turkovich if he can get a 5th year

Really the only two changes being Hughes moving to Fullback and Armando Allen to the Slot receiver.

/ means split time.

If anything, move Aldridge to FB. I loved seeing Hughes and Allen split carries last year. I think if those two split carries and we used a scheme that utilized a speedy fullback (Two back gun?), it would really stretch the field.

I definitely think some of the incoming freshmen make a push for some playing time. Cierre will crack the two deep - in my opinion. He will be the Michael Floyd of next year. I also liked what I saw this year out of Jonas Gray and I think he gets more reps as a soph. Allen and Aldridge will have their work cut out for them to see as many carries next year. I also think Stockton as an early enrollee will be able to get some reps early. Calabrese will be another freshman who looks like he can play right away. Special teams at first, but the kid is a beast.

I predict at least 4 freshmen getting legitimate minutes with as many as 7 seeing the field at some point.

As for the kicker situation, Brandon Walker was my comeback kid this season. He really turned stuff around and ended up with a pretty solid year. I think he keeps the place kicking job over the highly touted freshman.

Interesting.

Geez, am I the only one who thinks Allen is special? I would like to see Hughes and Allen in backfield (Mr. Inside and Mr. Outside style...), but CW's offense doesn't seem to care about RBs. Seems to be an "afterthought" position.

I see Gray making a push for the starting spot with added bulk and his break away speed. I am glad I am not the OC/RB at ND next year. No way you make all of those guys happy!!! So, who transfers in the spring after see he does not even make the 3 deep? I say Aldridge or Hughs...which ever back does not get moved to FB. Woods is something special!

i like jonas a lot and i foresee cierre wood involved in kick returns to get his talent on the field. as far as the hughes/aldridge/allen scenario, competition breeds success. let them compete their way into positions.
