Completely unnecessary comment.

and FYI, it is not uncommon for a new head coach to interview current assistants. Yes it is in the end the new coach's decision but is far from a certainty that the entire staff will be let go.

Thank you PA. I just laugh it off because it speaks volume about his character.

Actually the practice of keeping assistant coaches in the program isn't that uncommon anymore.

It is completely UNCOMMON to hire assistants to long-term contracts as was suggested above BEFORE you hire a new coach. It is beyond uncommon, it is plainly IDIOTIC.

Ok this thread was not meant to bash people.

I mearly wanted to gice some respect tio Coach Weis and grattitude for what he has done for Notre Dame.

The team is better than 6-4 and has the talent to be undefeated regardless of what some of the more negative posters think.

The point i wanted to make was that If the school makes the right hire than this team could be competing for a championship in the next 2 years, if not than we go back to square one. You can not compare Urban and Kelly because each coach is different. Dan Hawkins was the Brian Kelly when Colorado hired him. I brought up Harbaugh as an example of a coach who could step in right away and win because he runs a pro offense, is an agressive recruiter, and has proven he can win with little talent.

If there is not a plan in place to replace Weis with the RIGHT coach than there is no reason to fire Weis. Whethere the admministration thinks it is Gruden, Stoops, Mariucci, or god forbid Kelly, or Meyer. Than that coach needs to be in contract negotiations when Weis is fired and announced as the next coach immediatly. Otherwise there is no reason to fire Weis

Someone close this thread please

Whatever dude. It is a dumb idea. You might be a genius and nice guy otherwise, but the idea to lock a coach into assistants with long-term contracts is NOT a good one.

I have an uncle who coached at Miami, Colorado State and now the University of Montana. He was offered the opportunity to stay on at Colorado State after their last coach (Sonny Lubick) resigned (given the choice to be fired or resign). He opted not to stick around due his long standing relationship with Lubick.

So, genius, do you have any other factual information (because your uneducated, uninformed opinion amounts to fact) to hand out to us today?
