I've thought about this one too, but really the triple option is going to be tough to defend and osu isn't going to show a third of what's in their bag of tricks a week before USC. I'll hold my judgment until after this week.
Not showing your "a third of what's in their bag of tricks" when you're coasting to a 31-7 or 35-0 win is one thing. OSU was 3 for 12 on 3rd down conversions and was 1 for 2 on 4th down conversions. OSU had a 40-45 pound advantage over the Middies DLine and only managed to covert 4 of 14 key downs. That's got nothing to do with how hard it might be to defend the triple option or the playbook. It's about execution.
Navy made 8 of 12 3rd down conversions. Did OSU keep their defensive game plan under wraps for USC as well?
The Mids stuffed OSU on a key 4th and 1.
What super duper secret play did Tressel not use in the stadium Woody Hayes made famous with "3 yards and a cloud of dust"?
OSU didn't need 5 wideouts, or a fleaflicker, or a fumblerooski. They simply had to outmuscle a group of guys they outweighted by 45 pounds per man to gain 3 feet. A group of guys that don't have a single player that will play on Sundays.
