Something has gone awry. As we step back to review where we are in MLB as the half-way approaches, we see tradition is out the window. All the things we came to rely on have let us down, like the Cubs sucking it up, the Phillies being the NL East whipping boy, the Rays spending about $1-million on payroll (wait, they still do that.).

Not only are the Cubs currently leading the NL Central, they actually lead all teams in the NL with 45 wins. Their 45 wins puts them one behind MLB leading Boston (46).

Another surprise is the NL East leading Phillies (42 wins) with the Florida Marlins hot on their tails (wait, does a Phillie have a tail? I assume if you mean Philly as in a horse, the answer is obvious... but I digress).

The other big surprise is the Rays (apparently dropping "Devil" from their name has done them well) who are just a few games back of Boston in the AL East.

Meanwhile, Houston is helping with the staus quo. They always need a shot in the butt to get them going. Not having Clemens this year hasn't helped in that department.

The sox starting pitching needs to hold up. Man that rotation makes me nervous. Right now IMO the strongest teams in the AL are the Angels and Sox. The Rays are really, really good this year. Boy can those young guys pitch.

NL IMO it's all about the Cubs and Phillies.
