Here's an outsider's take on the situation.
You have to look at track record. Weis has never had a running-style QB in his career. Cutcliffe worked with the Mannings, none of whom were known for their scambling abilities. Last year, it looked like Quinn was being told not to scramble. With all of this in mind, it looks pretty clear to me that these coaches are old school (aka they're not Mack Brown). Unless this Jones kid develops an arm, I don't think he's going to play in front of Clausen (if he comes). Also, is it true that Jones is 6-3, 190? That's pretty weak. Keep in mind that Vince Young is a big guy who could absorb hits.
