phork why can't we hang with them? i think we have to compete with them, i'm sick of losing to them and i'm sure our players are sick of losing to them, our recieving corp and qb i would say is head and shoulders over osu's. and we are starting to get confidence and that is what we've needed. i think there was this stigma that we just aren't good enough that is finally being flushed out with this brash young talented team, so i am not saying we'll win but it wont be a 38-0 shutout, it can't be.

Lets' bring this topic back up about seven more games into the season. Then we will have a realistic idea of whether we can hold a light to them or not.

I can't believe what I'm reading on this site. An ND site. A site in which crazed optimism is to be expected.

I played ball and I went into every game thinking we could win it. Because if I didn't think that, then I didn't belong in the uniform.

ND as 2 and 0. As an ND fan on this site, from my PoV, every game is winnable until they prove me wrong.

If I was making book, maybe money would trump love of ND in my assessments. But I'm not. I know the strengths and weaknesses of the team and enjoy hearing feedback from you guys on those.

But I ain't doin' no negative speculating on outcomes until ND starts losing.

ok phork, you know so much about football. we're only 2 games in and by the time we go to sc we could be one of two things

1 a team that has improved or

2 a team that has gotten worse

i see how good sc looks but no team is unbeatable, no matter who. thats why i watch the games if sc was unbeatable than why even play the games? just give them the crystal now and get it over with.

its attitudes like yours that plague teams, if you do not believe you can win than you probably won't but if you believe you can win you have a much better chance than before and i can see that this team believes.

Attitudes like mine? Dood, I'm just calling them as I seem them. The team that played Michigan on Saturday, right now at this very minute, would get smoked by USC. tOSU actually has a decent defense, but they got chewed up.

Since I am not on the football team, I fail to see how my objective opinion is plaguing this team. I am big fan of Irish football, but my optimism has been tempered after our BCS blowouts, and the 3-9 debacle of a year ago. In my own opinion I feel like we are not much further ahead than last year, if at all.

And no, I am not in Law School. Should I be?

I read the first page of this thread and the last.

In my never humble opinion, the Irish are simply one year older, but they have a vastly better playcalling (is that a word?) system. SDSU and MythAgain defenses did not know WTF to expect. This team is improved because the 18 and 19 year old kids are better prepared to compete against 20 - 25 year old jock savants.
