Is that a suprise that the only two awards that were dubious went to Notre Dame affiliates? Mark May is a waste of TV time. People always complain about Lou being biased but at least he is honest about it and has a reason to have a bias. Mark May hates on ND and I don't even know why. Was he like not recruited by us and so he carries a grudge?

It is obvious that ESPN likes him saying things like this for some reason, maybe for ratings, otherwise they would have told him to shut up a long time ago. It is one thing to criticize ND for legitimate reasons but is it an entirely different thing carry out some sort of personal vendetta, which it is obvious that Mark May is doing.

Doesn't he realize that he looks like a clown when he keeps repeating the same tired message. "ND sucks, USC is king". Yeah we get it, Mr. May - your act is tired and boring. What sucks is that I won't even watch Lou Holtz anymore on ESPN Gameday because of May. As soon as those guys come on, I change the channel, and then you have Corso ruining the other panel of guys. Is it me or has ESPN gone downhill.

I think you're absolutely right Claynd...there is no other reason but ratings and ad money for Mark May to spew so much ND hatred. He remains a giant ass.

I'm starting to think some of you were dropped on your heads for continuing to read and/or listen to that guy and his ilk.

Seriously. Forget they even exist. You'll enjoy football much more.

Thats easier said than done. I hate a lot of things about ESPN but I'm a huge sports fan....I want to see highlights, I want to get news. How do you ignore ESPN if you are a big sports fan. You can ignore the website because there are plenty of other good sources of info but its much harder to do for TV stuff. I wish they had more competition on tv.

If you have it, ESPNnews is a nice alternative. It is what Sportcenter used to be but 24 hours a day.

If you must watch sports center, flip it off when the college football crew comes on.

It's OK to watch games. Go get something to eat or take a leak at halftime.

If you MUST watch those yahoos on ESPN, please PLEASE PLEASE stop running back to ND boards and crying anytime Mark May says something about Notre Dame. He doesn't like us. We get it. Many are sick of reading about it.

I've been watching ESPNews and it is much better. Unfortunately I've seen that idiot May on that channel too, but it is definitely better.
You'll never see me start a thread about what May said, or Craig James are any other blow hard on tv.

Who's Mark May?

I think he's this really famous guy that found out his head was too big for his body, prayed to God and Notre Dame for them to fix it... and when they didn't, he took a flamethrower to every religious figure he saw.

It just so happens that ND is the most overtly religious of major CFB programs.

I agree...i mean i have only been on the board for about three days, and each and everytime I get on here there is a new Mark May thread, I understand why you guys hate him but, as Scooper said, maybe theres no need to repost it every 24 hours...Although I did catch the segment, have to agree with one of the coaches he picked to coach the big game, our man Jim Tressel...hes a good one, you do have to admit!

Mark May hates Notre Dame because he is a member of the church of Scientology. *

Yeah, I stopped watching ESPN pretty much. I do watch MNF and the Thursday game of the week. I got tired of watching ESPN Slamming ND.

Did any of you hear any of the USC bashing for losing to UCLA? Probably not because there was no slamming. ND Beats UCLA in a tight game and ND Sucks. Charlie questions the system and he is labeled a crybaby, Urban questions the system and he is labeled a genius. Watch how they start kissing ND's Ass when the Irish are playing for the National Title in a couple of years.

It was funny to see the UCLA player take a shot at Corso and Herbie after the USC game.

I am glad I am not alone on this. If ND has interceptions it is bad play by Booty, Cowan, Ball, etc. If Brady throws an interception it is the defense that created it. ND has a last minute drive against UCLA and the defense gave the game away or the offense went into "not to lose mode". USC blows a last minute drive to win and it is the defense that held them. Now I give credit to UCLA (I was rooting for them of course) but you can say JD Booty is no Brady Quinn. Believe me it won't hurt.

Being mad at Mark May is like being mad at the bad guy pro wrestler. It's all an act designed to get "heat".

I think I know why Mark May hates Nd so much. As far as I know, he shouldn't have any history of hating Nd. He went to Pitt, which plays Nd pretty well and doesn't have a rivarly with them.

You may not want to hear this, but I think it has to do with Willingham's firing. Before that, he didn't really care much about Nd. He was a populist who rooted against big teams. His love for USC is an exception. He really started this after Willingham's firing, and I think every move he makes to diminish Nd is motivated by his belief that the firing had a racial basis (either b/c Willingham was more disposable or that it was overt).

I normally bust on you VV, but in all seriousness, you're right. I always found that argument by people kind of silly. How is it racist to fire the black head coach when you were one of the few schools that even hired a black head coach in the first place. I never got that one.

I don't mind hearing it. I'm sure you're right. But he's wrong.

The Willingham stuff still bothers me. It wasn't just the win/loss record, it was the fact that the team was headed in the wrong direction and anyone who followed ND football could see that.
Walt Harris just got fired from Stanford after 2 years - I don't think his skin color had anything to do with it. The pressure to win, and the money involved for the school if you do win is greater then it ever was.
Think how much more money the school has received as a result of the success of the football team last year and this year. They would have never made a BCS bowl had they allowed Willingham to finish his contract.

Ty is just a bad coach. His intentions were honorable but as they say "The road to hell is paved with good intentions". Just take a look at the rankings of the recruiting classes during his tenure. None were in the top 20 except for the first. He just couldn't encourage kids to come to ND under his teachings. Enough said.
