Look at the bright side, he stays on the team and in the event there is a rash of QB injuries you can probably put him back under center and not have a total meltdown.....

Anybody remember Jerry Rice's forty time? About 4.6 maybe.

If I were Massa, I'd frame this post and retire. One day after the move the greatest of all time has been brought up, while discussing him.

Moves a good idea, would love to see him bulk up into a TE (not going to be easy) and along with Montana's transfer this shows how in tune Coach Kelly really is with his personnel, and why we should never panic when these situations arise.

Good luck to Nate and Luke hoping for the best for both of you!!

Now each team will be able to go 4-wide in the spring game!!

This was a move that had to happened. Massa loves Notre Dame, and he has a better chance of seeing the field this way. I'm excited to see what he can do.

I like the move because he wasn't going to get on the field as a QB and it allows us to give more attention to develop our other QBs but if he wants to play college football he should transfer. We are loaded at WR. If Deion Walker (6'4, 4.4) cant get on the field and Shaq Evans couldn't get on the field then Massa's chances have to be slim to none.

...and Im afraid slim just left town.

Massa's chances of getting on the field have nothing to do with Deion Walker's height and speed, and absolutely nothing to do with Shaq who has transferred...ahahha. That might be one of the most interesting quotes i have ever heard on this site, and there as been some "funny" ones.

how are Deions hands? does he run crisp routes? does he know how to read a defense? does he realize when he becomes the hot route receiver on a two man blitz? can he block?

Dont even get me started on Shaq, because he penciled himself into the starting rotation and never felt like putting any effort in.

Some of you guys really wish this game was played on paper....

I'd be happy if he becomes a contributor at the wideout position, but as of now I do not see him as being a big contributor in the future...hopefully i'm wrong.

This is great because it just adds more competition to the position. Everyone gets better with competition. I do wish that Deion would finally show up because I know he is extremely athletic, but he just doesnt seem to be fully there as a wide receiver. The size of massa could be great in situational downs, but also just give us a solid rotation in this fast-paced offense. Hopefully he sticks around for all 4 years

Alot of guys really grow, and it all just clicks for them when they are with a program for a few years. Deion did not play in 08, so he may have 2 years left if he performs. From what I have heard he can run routes, is quick/fast as lighting, but has a bad case of the droppsies. He wouldn't have been such a stud recruit if he couldn't catch, it just mental at this point, and we all know how well Kelly can motivate people. If Deion want's to put in the work, he still has a fighters chance.

In fact, I'll make a bold move, he will be my breakout player of the year.

I'm thinking a john goodman clone. He'll be buried on the chart. I am seeing words about getting his frame up for tight end? Should be interesting

Who knows? We will have to see what he can do during Spring camp. If he can run routes and catch he might work. An athletic 6'4 receiver with a qb's field sense is never a bad thing to have in one's arsenal.

i dont see davaris daniels getting that much pt this year.
5 wide is floyd riddick jones goodman and probably daniel smith
there always seems to be an unwanted injury in the wr corp so finally deion could touch the field

and depending on how quickly massa develops at wr, it may be an easy flow, or it may be a disaster, he could see the field in 2 yrs

Except that Goodman is much faster.

I don't know about Goodman. I think he's easily passable if Davaris/Atkinson really step it up, and utilize there talent. The WR position is not a difficult one to learn, if some of our young guys meet there athletic potential, they'll pass Goodman before the season ends. He's just not as athletic as the other players.

There is so much more to the wr position than just speed and size, the unmeasurables are just as important. Some guys just have a focus and ability to come down with the ball, we won't know anything until spring

Disagree.

Last summer, Goodman didn't take 100% of his snaps at WR, having to take a few at QB. Losing that big chunk of the summer PT does nothing to help the development of his routes.

With T.J. last year going above and beyond the call, it pushed Goody into the 4th/5th WR role. With the great amount of TEs used last year, the 4th WR never really saw the field behind Floyd, Riddick, and T.J..

Not sure that there was any kind of comparison intended between Massa and Rice. All I was intending is that a fast 40 time is not required for a wide receiver to excel. This is what I was getting at:

Give me the kid with the heart, willing to put in the effort . . .

I though Kelly actually said something in the press about Davaris being the kind of guy that could come in and play right away when he saw him play this season? I can't confirm it but I don't know why he would say something like that to reporters if it had no truth to it.
