I love it. We're going to need his athleticism against Locker. I had nightmares of Locker running circles around Toryan Smith.

I thought he did OK. He's young. He had a lot of tackles, but still seemed a bit out of place at times. He is going to be awesome when he "gets it"

He was aaaaaaall over the field today. He's going to be an absolute monster in his junior and senior seasons.

It's in his Hawaiian blood to be a warrior. He will be very special one day and make a name for himself in ND history.

Kid plays fast, and with so much energy, so much emotion. Tears were streaming down his face after the game. Clausen went over and told him this was the reason he came to ND, and that he's going to be a great player.

He had 10 tackles, but even when he wasn't the primary tackler he was near the play or at the bottom of the pile. He's not great in pass coverage yet, but other than that, for his first start, I thought he was fantastic and a huuuuuge upgrade over T. Smith. ANd big up for T. Smith not pouting during the game, and being ready when his name was called and tackling Locker on the big goal line stand when Locker rolled out...

no surprise you're awake this early!

LOL. Went out with a buddy Friday night, got hammered, but still woke up at 4. So last night I crashed at 9 and got up at 4:30, 7.5 hours of sleep, which is like sleeping in for me. And I'm still pumped/relieved with our big win. I kept on imagining during that 4th quarter how absolutely miserable the next 2 weeks were going to be for me and fellow ND fans. But we pulled it out...no on to U$C, who looked pretty damn good last night...

When I heard Manti was thinking of coming to ND I googled forums and this is the first one I found. I have been reading this board since but never posted until now. This place seems much better than other ND forums. In that time I have evolved into an Irish fan really getting into the other players not just Manti.

If you read up on Manti's upbringing you may have noted that he played a lot with Toma and his cousin Siu Tafuna who plays DB for Navy now. Siu's brother plays LB for New Mexico. My boss at work is Siu's mom so thats how I followed Manti's progress years ago.

This is a great kid and comes from a great family. She told me Siu talked some smack to Manti about when they meet Navy. I can just see the rivalry from when they all played football in the street. Just a few weeks ago she told me Manti asked her if it was ok if maybe Siu could try to come to ND. She told him "you guys are grown up now do what you guys want." I thought that was funny that the three boys still want to play football together.

Welcome aboard, Pohaku. I personally hope that Siu stays at the Academy, graduates, and continues a fine tradition of "Da Kine Navy". I served alongside some Hawaiians that, to this day, are some of the best people that I have met in my life. Send me some Zippy's, eh?

Again, I may be a little tardy to the party, but I want to say "Aloha" (yeah... I'm a fucking sell-out... I know) to ya Pohaku.

I like UH as they are the home team for us in Hawaii but Notre Dame takes football to a whole new level. The history and pride here is like no other and one can admire and become a true fan from a thousand miles away. That really is something special and some day I hope to make a trip to see the stadium. At first I couldn't believe Manti chose ND over USC but with a little research into the school and program I fully understand why he came here.

Those kids played their hearts out Saturday and I'm really happy for them. I know the defense has its problems that may keep them from performing to their potential this year. I bet next year will be a fantastic year for the program if Jimmy stays.

Anyways thanks for the welcome and glad to be here!

Go Irish!!
